He's Irish!

From Wikipedia...

Steven Patrick Morrissey was born at Park Hospital (now known as Trafford General Hospital) in Davyhulme, Urmston, Lancashire, on 22 May 1959 to Irish Catholic immigrants.

The Duke of Wellington was being teased about the fact he was born in Dublin and therefore Irish. He replied "Being born in a stable doesn't make you a horse"!!!

Leave it out hookey morrissey is as english as auden and larkin, you will be claiming oscar wilde, george bernard shaw and WB Yeats as irish next, sorry they were all english, the only great writer who could possibly be called irish was james joyce and feck me did he lost the plot after ulysses.

we wont go down the sectarian route but shaw, wilde,o'casey, beckett, yeats, synge even sheridan were all English Protestants.

I'm more of a Brendan Behan fan myself.

"Last night as I slept, I dreamt I met with Behan, I shook him by the hand as we passed the time of day..."

When I spoke to Morrissey a couple of weeks ago (He had been in London for the One Show), he said he'd never heard of Richard! smile
