Three City players, Ryan Moran, Simon Martin and Craig Mackail-Smith have all turned down initial contract offers from the club. Manager Steve Cook has been given the same budget as last season but players are looking for an increaser in wages.

"I've spoken to all the players and the majority want to stay," said Cook, "but they're looking for more money and I'll have to weigh that up. Some of them are deserving of better contracts, but the way we finished the season sticks in my mind and no player is irreplaceable."

Speaking to the St. Albans Observer Cook said of the three who turned down offers, "They are all good players with decent futures, and I'd like them to stay, but I won't be held to ransom. I'm not going to be pushed into deals that the club cannot afford." adding, "I think pre-season will throw up a lot new faces with players playing for contracts."

What a [censored] cheek, Simon Martin maybe deserves a raise as he was top scorer again and is a class above but Ryan has been dogshite all season and can't even get into the team ahead of Richard Evans some games. When Ryan arrived he had just been released from Luton and was a very good player as time has gone on he's got worse and worse and last season he was terrible, let him go!

As for Craig, well St.Albans answer to Ronaldo has only been a main squad player for a season (where he hardly improved, just run around a bit more) and now he wants a rise. Let him go, I bet clubs are queing up for this profilic ryman premier striker. Maybe canvey will swap Boylan for him!

Good players with a good season behind them are in their rights to be rewarded, I'm afraid Craig and Ryan don't! Craig should be happy that at 18 he's gradually getting first team football and learning his trade while Ryan should take a pay cut until he returns to the playing level he was at a couple of seasons ago!

I would rather have the above three players than Gledhill, Lodge and De Souza, for example.

And by the way, I've heard through Marvin's trusty grapevine that of the aforementioned ( <-- Word of the week?) three, there are now only two.

How do you know Craig has no intentions of staying, weebo? By the way, your house looks in good shape (from the outside, that is).

I think i read that Craig said that if he didn't have confirmation that he would be playing in the first team more often then he would have to look elsewhere. Therefore he doesn't have any real intention of staying which is a shame.

Oh, i believe that i read it in the Observer.
