With Pat Mullins apparently being released, does this mean Marc Beresford is the club's number 1? As he wasn't on contract, does he clasify as being retained if kept?

I would like to think he is in the running for it Fanet Blu. Shame about Pat IMO but unfortunately when a goalie makes errors it seems to go against them even more. Good luck to Pat and Gregs, being local lads, wherever they go.

Back to the thread, am really pleased Dan Stubbs has decided to stay and I personally would love to see him in a more attacking midfield role, as he seems to have a good shot on him when given that chance to attack and I am sure he can add to his goal tally. Problem is I guess is that Wayne is in charge of that position?

I'm pleased abut Dan too. He works so hard for the team and can play in a more defensive role or supporting the attack. Perhaps someone like Ben Lewis could play the holding role given the defenders we have on the books, which might release Dan to go forward more.

One point none of us have picked up on is that this retained list could just be those players who have confirmed with Terry they will play for us next season. It could well be others have yet to make up their minds??? Perhaps Wellsie can let us know if this is the case?

(I know you weren't Alan, but) don't read any more into the announcement other than those are the players that are registered to us for next season. But, I will try to bring confirmation of other sigings as they arise but the next one could be some weeks away given we're not out of May yet.

Beresford's a mate so i'd like to see him with the number 1 shirt but I have my doubts. He's a good keeper but not the best in the Sunday league in my opinion. I may be proved wrong and wish him the best of luck if he does have a chance this season.

A strange one re: Mullins & Gregory..

 

on his day, Mullins is a match winner..with valuable experience at this level and level above,

 

but like said previously, maybe he does get distracted a bit.. and all keepers get pulled up for little mistakes..(little mistakes as a keeper are very costly!)

 

and i think that damages confidence a lot.. especially when his own fans are against him..

 

Gregory has been consistent for us, and always showed hunger and passion for the club, whether he started or came on as sub.. but i suppose hunger and passion is not always enough.. (a few goals, a few player of the months )

 

Maybe Gregory just accepted that Curtis has been fantastic since Christmas, and at 27, didn't fancy sitting on the bench..!
