Steve Brown...................

Recommended Posts

2-3 ways you can look at this.

Firstly, given the criticism that has been relentless from the majority who bother to comment on this site and sneakily within earshot at the clubhouse, it baffles me to then read more criticism that he has left.

Secondly, it would be extremely difficult to turn down if a similar opportunity arose in all our professions.

Thirdly, it's a credit that SB has been recognised in having the pedigree to be considered for such an important position far higher up the pyramid.

I think it is a great shame that SB is leaving, I can see what and where we are losing out on here. But at the same time, I believe we are still retaining the vast majority of the squad, therefore we can still pick and choose who stays or leaves.

Another positive is (and I hope it stays that way) that Mick Leslie will remain, so your all wrong in anticipating a new Assistant.

Rudi return as a player coach is a step backwards. Forget Rudi, Tickner, Crace, Bastian etc etc etc and move on.

Lastly and not least, no one man is bigger than our club, that includes those on the field and off the field, therefore lets all look forward positively.

No doubt the usual suspects will find faults with my opinions but they are the negative nannies in my eyes. Thursdays meeting should have more topics to discuss than anticipated.

Looking forward to it.

My aim for next season is to ensure that we get out of this poxy league and get back into the ESL where the banter is so much better!!! excited

Will the next manager and assistant be considered great or average by Enfield United??? probably all depends if the new man can be bothered to have a little chat to him from time to time.SB talked a good game and talked that good game to EU from time to time.As such,he could do no wrong in his eyes.

From my own point of view and that of the majority of other fans.We judged the bloke (and criticised and paised him accordingly),on results and teams displays on the pitch.Nothing else!

I think you're being a little harsh on EU there. For me, the jury is/was still out on Steve Browne, but in my eyes he made us more competitive and organised during the time that he was at the club. For the last half of the season, we competed well in almost every game we played, and no longer looked like shipping 4+ goals like we did most games at the start of the season.

Cheers

Barney

P.S. I've come to this viewpoint without ever speaking with Steve Browne ;-)

Looks like even SM doesn't want to work with you, he's gone.

Now remind us how many people do you work with in your "office"

LOL

What not even giving time to the youth, visiting the U9's, 10's 11's and watching the 16's play in his own time?????

He was putting a lot of time in to get to know everyone from top to bottom, as any decent manager should. JC and SM never visited or watched random youth matches but SB did.

I also think he grabbed the bulls by the balls in the changing room and raised the benchmark required to play for Town but as we saw results did not come through sufficiently for a play off spot.

I believe the playing side would have improved further for the 09/10 season, but we'll never find out now.

Above all, I will support the new manager whoever he is (to an extent) so long as its moving forward and not backwards and he makes time for the youth section which is tomorows Enfield Town. So long as our team have a fighting chance on the pitch and I'm happy. So long as we dont have the illdiscipline of the past and if we get a promotion then great.

I cant be bothered to find the post from a few weeks back when you stated that if SM & SB are driven out of the club that you would be off & take as many of your youth team with you that you could.

Anyway I never thought the problem was SB & agree with you that being given the chance of coaching three levels higher at the peak of the non league pyramid is a chance very few would turn down.

I do however disagree with you regarding having an old ex player as a coach, I would like to see as lovely Stuff suggested someone like Andy Leese, an experienced manager with a coaching team that includes a club legend such as Rudi, Ticks or even as Happy suggested Supa Kev!

Here's a thought and yes Ive said it before Stuart Nethercott, at least he should be within our budget......wouldnt he?

Three steps up the pyramid? Doubt it.

Dunno why you wanna look at previous comments of mine (pretty sad really) as Steve was not driven out and SM needed SB as part of the management team that existed.

I totally agree with the boards decision once SB had gone, although I think SM showed immense dignity under the unfriendly crticism that was thrown his way, nevertheless thats all history now and an opportunity to have a fresh start for the new season.
