Not been a terribly good one in many ways.

First, as reported elsewhere, I was accosted by 3 juvenile assailants on my way home from the pub on Friday night who attempted a bit of redistribution of wealth, in their favour, and to inflict a hearing impairment. They failed in both aspirations and remembered urgent appointments elsewhere.

Then, this morning, my telephone bank rang me with a "security check". It seems that earlier that same Friday night my cashpoint card thing got copied and some little sh1tes went around emptying my bank account.

Fortunately the bank's security system spotted something and they are going to refund all the dodgy withdrawals, but it's so bloody annoying. I have to drag down to the old bill shop to report it, phone the bank back, destroy my old card and wait for a new one, and learn a new PIN number.

I'll say this for my bank, te were on the case, spotted the scam and rang me about it straight away. Quite impressed really.

Apparently they (the thieves, not the bank) put a thingy on the outside door where there is an evening lobby service that copies your details.

You will have heard it before, but I ask you all be VERY careful when you use ATM's. Trust no-one.

Same thing happened to me (not the mugging)!

Used my card to pay for petrol at a petrol station in nearby Bradford

but it wasn't until I checked my bank statement at a later date and noticed a number of payments in the Leeds/Bradford area that couldn't possible have been mine as I was abroad at the time!! I got my money back too.

Is there anything I can do to cheer you up?

I think the grass and the car were punishment for me calling into question his fidelity or something!!

Sending round the Urchinettes will definitely have cooked his goose as far as I'm concerned!

Restaurants is another place to watch what happens to your card. If possible, pay in cash, if not, NEVER let your card out of your sight, and insist the waiter/tress deals with your card at your table so you can be sure she he/she hasn't run it through a reader, which can easily be hidden in his/her poscket !

Friend of ours was eating at a very 'posh' restaurant in London and got taken for half a grand !

(Luckily he got it back as well !)

The other stunt at cash machines which has been rife around Dorking recently, is the old, 'You've dropped a fiver !' trick the moment your card is in the slot. Just long enough for partner in crime No 2, to remove your card, (after having placed a plastic strip in the cash machine slot), and cloning it.

Strangely enough, all the withdrawels maded on the duplicate occurred within 2 hours... WHERE ?

IN ESSEX ! (B*gger the M.25 !)

Too true !

Generally safer, and always try to draw cash from the machines during working hours from the ATM's INSIDE the bank or building society.

The villians know only too well, the moment they walk inside and hang around the cash machines, they are on CCTV ! Your withdrawl timed, as are the CCTV pictures.

Well like I said, I used the ATM in the lobby. I don't know if has CCTV in there, but from the way the guy on the phone seemed to be waiting for me to confirm when I last used the ATM, and sort of jumped on it when I gave the time (I was sneaking between two pubs) I think they had it pinned down to that time and just confirmed it.

B'stards.

I've heard of this, but thought it was just a 'moral panic' and not quite as widespread as it now appears..., never had any probs myself, but thanks for your advice lads and lasses...

Another ETFC fan was on a bus at the weekend and intervened in a mugging - 12 kids ganging up one one feller. Is Enfield getting worse or is it just coincidence?

Was it you Badger?

I have a horrible feeling Enfield is getting worse. There are large groups of youngsters hanging around in certain places, many of them quite young but large numbers, egging each other on.

Why the police don't intervene and move them on is beyond me. When do you see a police car prrowling around Enfield Town at night? There were hundreds of 'em when I was a lad and we weren't doing anything!

We were dropping disabled daughter off in Tottenham a few weeks ago to go on holiday. Our minibus was nose on to the coach but we'd not locked it. My wife's bag was in the bus and four youths whipped it out. They got various cards, a cheque book, moblie etc. We stopped the cheques but they have been going on a spending spree with the cheque book and cards (around £800). Fortunately, we're not liable as the cheques were stopped.

GOOD NEWS, Last week a copper knocked on our door to say that the little s''ts had been cought in possesion. Hopefully they'll go down for this one because it's not only theft, it's fraud.

Lets be honest Invis !

They'll probably get a light slap on the wrist; A social worker to puth them on the 'straight and narrow', and 50 quid out of the poor-box.

Personally ? I'd bring back the birch AND borstal !
