Slough team Next Year

Good luck to Luke, always gave his best but for some reason, much like Allaway it did not really work out for him at the club. He initially came in and looked very good until he got injured, and did not look the same player when he came back.

Great news about Edwards, looks like he has a bright future and grew in stature with every game. Hopefully with the likes of Keano, Sinclair and Sweeney staying with some others and if the players rumoured to be coming in are true things are looking-up.

good players not quite hitting their best form consistently is something that happens to us a hell of a lot more than it should. surely that must change eventually lol

no doubting the quality of player Bateman has brought in so far and rumoured to be also bringing in is a step up in class of what we have expected over the last 3 or 4 years and that surely will result in better league position but with Slough nothing ever seems to work out as you hope it will

Edwards seemed to be loving every minute of his football with us so having been released by Crystal Palace where better to start your non league career than at a a team you know you like playing for. the contract is just to ensure if (tbh should maybe be when) a higher club takes interest we would then ask for some sort of fee?? thats the way it works does it not i may be mistaken??

So one could assume that the same would apply that it would be written into his contract or he would have a verbal agreement that if a bigger club came in for Edwards he would be released for no fee.

Again, what would happen if he breaks his leg early in the season would we be contracted to pay his wages? or would it be written as a no play no pay contract to safe guard the club?.

If the above are correct I really can't see much point of putting him on a contract.

Well the reason McCleary was released from his contract was due to the financial situation of the club at the time. Given the clubs more stable financial footing and potential of the player it would surely make sense - benefits outweighing the negatives.

Hopefully he won't break his leg, but I'm sure Gary can comment more on the other aspects!

I've heard through a reliable source that Adam Thompson goalkeeper at Hayes and Yeading could be loaned to us for a season. Did'nt play last season due to work. Quality i'm told.

Just read from the Hemel Hempstead website that they have already signed on 7 players from last season including CHRIS HERRON.

So Annon, I will take the players you have mentioned with a pinch of salt.

That apart, as the registration forms for next season are available I would hope and expect to hear of some player signings from us within the next week or so.

RR, yes theyare available but I don't think that they can be sent in until July 1st, but maybe wrong. So any club announcing signings before then is running a risk.

Chris, when players commit themselves either verbally or written, there will always be the odd one or two who will change their minds and move to another club for one reason or another.

Those players are not worth keeping because they have not joined the club for the right reasons.

Whether they are announced immediately or at a later date will not make a jot of difference.
