MOTM v Marlow

Rother

Recommended Posts

Personally, I would give it to Jake Parsons, thought he was fantastic and put the Marlow back four under constant pressure. I thought Ben was terrific though, in my opinion he has been what we have been missing up front. Ben would always be in my starting eleveln. With him you always win something, be it a corner, a free kick around the box, he gives defenders headaches. We looked lively up front today. I for one, hope he will stick with us despite his lack of opportunities in the second half of the season. But I actually hope the whole team stick together, because there will be a lot of offers coming their way, I'm sure, this summer.

Jake was good today. Needs to play that well week in week out and will soon become a regular.

Seeds was good. Ben was Ben....and should have had more time in that No9 shirt this season.

Not sure about Rob Bullivant's non-stick gloves today, much preferred his previous ones!!

So, Jake P was my MOM.

Nice to finish on a high.

Excellent perfomance today by the team as a whole not one player had a poor game. Our movement up front was just too good for marlow and our midfeild had that much missed creativity back. Solid at the back too. Top performance!

MOM- Jake. Ran his socks off and got the goal he deserved.

One niggle...why oh why did we play at that sham of a club! With a smaller ground perhaps there would of been half an atmosphere...being told to sit down in an empty ground..PATHETIC!

Great to end the season on a high and a trophy much deserved for some of the perfomances of the last 2-3 years!

MOM Jake. Also my candidate for the season. Always looked fast, energetic and flashes of skill but is now doing it all pretty much every time he plays. And he seems to enjoy playing, too.

Having said which Ryan was great, Seeds and Fagan also excelled (and as soon as it's freed, Seeds should get the captain's armband to keep IMO), Joe showed his class, Ben seemed back to the quality he showed at first for us, Tilbs was superb today [although poor Casey would demur]... etc etc. I haven't even gone through my regular favourites.

We didn't really have any weak links. Marlow weren't bad... but we were full value for the win.

And OK, so 95% of the ground was empty, but if it hadn't been so bl**dy far from everything I'd agree that a trophy game deserves a big ground. You could still hear the Windsor sing (wo-oh. wo-oh.)

I thought Ben was superb, although Jake probably deserved the MOTM award. If we had played like that for the last few months we might have been a bit closer to going up. But the team looked like a team tonight, they passed and looked good. My player of the season, Fagan, looked good at right back and we never really looked out of control of the game (although a second goal wouldn't have hurt!!!). how good were Tilbury and Butts as well, and Ryan. a really good team performance and they should be proud of themselves. Well done to them and I hope we hold on to the team as I believe we could easily push for the title next season if we do. Thoroughly fantastic day, hurrah!!!!

A much better team display yesterday. It was like the good old days before our blip when we looked really solid at the back and looked like scoring every time we attacked.

I agree with the Ben Porter comments, for a little fella he does a great job at holding the ball up and wins more than his fair share of headers. We seem to have another dimension to our play when he plays up front with Chenns, they obviously enjoy playing alongside each other and you can see the understanding that they have. Hopefully they will both still be around next season.

Jake had a great game down the right hand side, he seemed to skip past their left back with ease every time he had the ball. Also the 2 fullbacks were excellent, again it was like earlier in the season when they seemed to get forward much more often than they have done recently.

All in all a good team display and a fitting way to end the season. It would have been a travesty if the players had ended up with nothing to show for their efforts this season.

Hopefully the majority of the team can stay together for next season. If that happens I

A cracking day all round really, great jollytivities on the train. the Chariots of Fire moment as we all ran as one from the Windsor to Slough train to catch the connecting train; and as we pulled away seeing a seemingly lost member of the fawn group stalking the platform, just after confirming with confidence everyone had made it on okay.

D-Dogs call for a Subway was top quality and Shepherding us with official aplomb onto the train with the call of "My group, this way!" resonating through the staions of London.

Watching Dazza win again and again on the quiz machine was scary, who knew he knew so much, but Dan was clearly the man when it came to the knowledge.

Then we had this football match thingy to break up the day, which was pleasant as well, despite being toldd to sit down (Health & effing Safety!!) and then the journey home, which can only be described as, well, smelly - Sorry chaps, my fault!!

As our numbers dwindled, and the wonderful day drew to a close, one final victory as Cooky won on the quiz machine in the Carpenters Arms,a perfect end to a perfect day.

So that's it until late July, when the friendlies urge us to come along and see what players we have and tease us that the title can be ours at last.

Until then, enjoy the summer and the sweet taste of victory.

To the seasons gone and the seasons to come........

That little girl on the Platform at Slough! She tried to get out of my way, i tried to get out of hers...somehow we did not collide but she thought she was done for!!

Subway breakfast and a sing-a-long to radiohead in the queue would of been great if it wasnt for Daws singing it in my ear!

Highlight of the day, No season, was Dazza, Mrs Cat and I finding something so funny we were in tears! When we tried to explain it all we got where shrugs from the others! However the man with 1,000 tats at that working mens club was great too!

Oh and that game was good too....

When coops, and butts went to lift the county cup we where there! We where there!

MOTM... Well my opinion is its a really hard one to pick. I honestly didn't think there was a player out there that had a bad game. They all worked really well as a team and seem absolutely fired up for it.

I thought Bruce and Chens played well (with Chens unlucky not to bag himself a goal) Coyne and Seeds martialed the midfield and really kept control of the center of play. Back 4 all had a great game Ryan being very effective against the ever dangerous Case (although I found it strange they played Case at the back he is very good going foward).

Tilbs certainly a contender for MOTM.

But on the day for me it was between Benny Porter and Jake parsons.... hmmm... I would give it to Jake. Ben did a great job but Jake really did look the buisness Marlows Wing backs seemed reluctant to get forward each time the ball got on the floor near him.

Not to take anything away from Marlow they played a good game and looked up for it. Overall a top days footy! Come on the Windsor!

Days highlight away from the footy... tough one again.. Dawsons ever amusing impressions or Tom bigging it up then nearly loosing to a girl a pool.

Worst part.. fuzzy.. what was that gas you were emitting on the way back? i think you were a one man Sarin factory... the poor chap trying to get back to his seat on the london slough train as we got off actually had his face screwed up in agony...

I thought the ref was very good too - which is more than I can say for Marlow who looked the poorest team we've played since North Leigh. (I appreciate that is at least in part due to the fact that we upped our game on the day.)

Chatting to some Marlow fans on the way out, they said it really should have been 4 or 5 nil and suggested that they had been completely outclassed. I couldn't disagree.

I thought the ref was generally good but missed the two challenges on Jon Case, the second by Tilbs was pretty disgraceful. If that had been on Parsons we would have been out of our seats screaming our heads off. Other than that he got everything right, including the cards.

We could have and maybe should have won by a few more, Jake could have had a hat-trick, but we won, and that's what matters.

We played how we did earlier in the season, if we can start next season well we can push for the league again, hopefully the experience of this season will help....
