I hasten to add I refer to an unspecified number of random waitresses, or indeed waiters I suppose, who have in the past asked me if I required that particular delicacy with my scampi, which I do not eat very often.

 

I cannot recall having scampi, with or without tarts or sauces, at any time on any occassion, in any restaurant, cafe, public house, roadside trailer or other premises (licensed or unlicensed) in any location or locations south of the River Thames or east of the River Lee.

 

I reckon that puts me in the clear.

Well it was only my little trowel!

 

It's true I've thrust it into soils of many periods, in many different places. How easily it slips though the soft yielding deposits, more like a caress, gently kissing the strata as they willingly give up their secrets.

 

Hard clay is of course a different matter, my little trowel has to be firm and dominant, forcing its way into the baked crust and prising it, protesting, open, to give way to the soft, moist underlayers.

 

And you should see what I can do with a mattock!
