This is when the play-offs become a farce.

 

As play off teams require two games to win to get promotion shouldn't it be that if the second placed team is seven points or more than the third place team they should get automatic promotion too.

 

This way it will still be worthwhile playing right up to the end of the season to get into the play offs in case they do take place.

Its no different in the Football League, so why should it be any different in the lower leagues?

Yeah it is harsh on East Thurrock...but maybe, just maybe the play offs allow a little bit of excitment back into football...!!

The thing is GB that rules should be flexible and allow for the unexpected.

Not sure that the Ryman League is going to get very excited about my play off suggestion though!

In Serie B, if the third placed side are 10+ points ahead of the rest, the play-offs are scrapped and they go up automatically.
