REDRESSING.......

No its not about my out of season clothing habits, not this time anyway. I want to, due to pressure and disappointment, state my reasons for 'spouting off' about players and training attendance.

The info was given to me in confidence and it would appear to have been bad judgemet to have betrayed that trust placed in me when I was told the original facts.

My personal reasons for imparting the said info was to counter people like Fanet Blue particularly, and others of the same mind, regarding the sad loss to Staines on Saturday. The critisms levelled at all on the pitch,IMO, were grossly unfair and it seemed prudent, though not with hindsite, to state the defensive position for those not able to themselves. By which I mean those who attended training either consistently or more regularly than some others.

My frustration is caused by my own background, as both a footballer and athlete up to the age of 28, that required me to be at the peak of fitness consistently when in competitive season. To see players obviously not at those levels themselves at such a critical time contributed to me blowing a fuse.As an observer it hurts to see players doing themselves and others a diservice through lack of preparation and commitment. That said I dont doubt for one moment that several do have some form of personal training programme that they follow when time allows. IMO the fitness levels for some are inadequate and need to be addressed, probably now with a very intense and arduous pre-season, to show these lads what their bodies are actually capable of acheiving.

Some will say that 'my bike is now going backwards' due to a change of mind, not so. In fact I still believe that Saurdays debacle could have been avoided with proper preparation and intent by ALL who were involved.

So in summation the post was badly timed and made in haste without proper thought to those that it may have offended or betrayed. A humble apology if you have ever heard one but I stick by the principal that fitness alone can sometimes win games and without it you will almost certainly lose games unecessarily.

It takes a big and brave man to make such a heartfelt apology (not sure it was needed though i can imagine some did) and i applaud you accordingly.

I think we all know that emotions are running high in all of us at the moment-and whatever way you look at it-saturday was poor-not because of losing ,but just the overall manner of everything.

A silly thing-but one thing i'd like to read somewhere-is that when it comes to pre-season training-i think most contracts run from early july -next season-the guys are going to start one week earlier than normal in late June.

Realisticaly-that may not make much difference-but it shows commitment and its little things like that which get everybody 'onside'

Ronks, apologies for causing offence, again, like you, nothing meant.. I think it's because Stubbs put effort in every single week, that sometimes, this gets taking for granted, and thus, ignored, or forgotten about.. so i apologise for tarring all with the same brush..

However, win as a team, lose as a team, and when i say team, i mean those sitting on the bench, those watching from the stands, those answering the phone at the club..

to quote a favourite film of mine:

We have been weighed....

We have been measured...

And we have been found wanting...

Quite right to apologise. Offending the ostriches of Margate Social Club. Anyone remember when it was a football club. It was about six years ago before some developers took us down three divisions. I will make my own apology later to all the Stevie Wonders who support the club.
