On the pitch on Saturday (apart from morris, pratt & robinson):

*Lack of passion (will to win for the fans & survival),

*Lack of urgency (no consequence as no care for club, only wage?)

*Lack of togetherness/unity (fighting for each other, for team)

*Lack of grit (any big tackles made in an attempt to intimidate Staines? to make them think twice about playing football?)

*Lack of determination (any self respect? any pride in ones performance?)

*Lack of composure,

*Lack of leadership (so so quiet all over the pitch..so disappointing, not just the captains job..)

*Lack of repsect for Neville & Terry..

*In the bar after.. jokes..? smiles..? i don't get it?

No consequence

Surely relegation is the worst thing any footballer (in the game of football, not life) should suffer?! surely the players were gutted and disappointed and surely they shouldn't have the "ho hum" attitude so soon after one of the darkest days Margate have experienced?

A sad sad time...

Whilst not liking all this 'passion stuff'-people demonstrate that differently-i am in agreement with some of the above.

It was too quiet on the pitch from the off.

I certainly do not like to read about any post match lightheartedness .Even if some did'nt care, after a day like that, i think you withdraw quietly rather than go to the bar.

I add that i thought Aaron lacey both had a decent game (not just the throw-ins) and was doing his best to get people going.

Sorry in advance for this post but to be honest its gonna give me great pleasure in a strange kinda way.I want to put you in the picture about the 'behind the scenes' preparation for quite few of this seasons games. The following account is both accurate and and factual so dont bother trying to counter with any excuses or reasoning that will contradict the following info.I say that not in a argumentative way but because hopefully after reading it you may have a better view of what has maybe affected the results and 'attitude' and performance from those that have been relied upon and yet have not peformed as expected.

The most important part of all match preparation, IMO, is training.Unfortunately, including thursday just gone, only 2 or 3 first team players turned up. This has been the case consistently throughout the season due to, it has been claimed, work or other commitments. When I have heard about each and every occasion I have got more and more angry and frustrated because I cannot understand such lethargy and lack of passion from someone who is supposed to be commited and concerned about the team and club they play for.

That said I do appreciate that there will always be unusual circumstances occasionally that will be restrictive for 'the occasional' absence from the training ground. Unfortunately it has been too often and for the same players the norm rather than the exception.

Bonding, both personally and playing wise, comes from familiarity with those around you in the squad. It is bad enough that they only get 2 seasons A WEEK particularly within the remaining third of such a critical season. But to not turn up for these sessions and show, in the match on the following saturday, they obviously havent kicked a ball since the last game is ridiculous.

Again IMO this is totally and unforgivably tantamount to gross disrespect to those who they play with and for and to the supporters who pay their wages. But nothing has been done about it for nearly all of the season. Too many 'premadonnas' in my opinion who are so far up their own arses that they cant see the toilet for the [****!!****].

Please.......no more of this disrespect and lack of commitment from all, lack of passion from all except the favoured few. Those favoured few including your so called 'player of the season' have taken the piss and the money for too long and its time for it to stop. If that means that they walk away because the gate has has been relegated then you should all collectively rub your hands together and say good ridance. The strutting in the bar and jovial attitude shown is just typical of what I have heard and seen all season from certain players and its a joke. More so because its tolerated by the 'powers that be' that control the squad.

As I said earlier I apologise for the 'truth' which may not be nice to hear but it has been extremely contributary to the current state of the team and the club. Margate is a great club and the supporters IMO are second to none and their passion and desire for success should be emulated on the pitch.

SOME players, I know for a fact, are just as hacked off as you all are. They, interestingly enough, are the ones who have turned up for training EVERY TIME. Work all day, get home, rush the pasta and fish down their necks. Hydrate whilst driving for an hour to the ground and still get there on time only to find 'others' cannot be bothered to get there 'cos they've had a hard day'.........AAHHHH BLESS!!!

Thats all for now but if anyone has any questions please do not hestitate to PM me and I will be happy to elaborate.

Win lose or draw I have enjoyed the club and its supporters, especially Pervy Mick, and you all deserve better IMO.

That's kind of what I was trying to get across but not for personal reasons. My frustartion is with the 'principal' of the whole issue. He covers every blade of grass not because he likes to but sometimes because he has to due to others fading in the last third of the game. That shouldnt happen when they are being paid so much momey for so little input off the field. He still trains four days a week 'as well as' and it shows in the fitness levels compared with others getting 3 or four times his money. It demotivates and demoralises when the same commitment from elsewhere isnt shown, but should be. He is far from perfect but trying to be better comes from commitment and at least giving your all.

Sorry MM there's no 'allegedly' about it..........the actual number, just been told again, was 6........the rest were reserves. Apologies for the '2 or 3' but in conversation terms it maybe excused so please forgive me. If anyone wants the names pls PM me.

Im gobsmacked by this statement RONKS and also the point that the players seemed jovial after the game - shame on them. Saturday I witnessed a very weak Margate side with what can only be described as an "OH WELL" attitude and was extremely disappointed with game in general, but if as you say a majority of the team werent fit/bothered then this has to be addressed by the managerial staff - and quickly IMO.

P.S. Not saying this because your are his dad but "Stubbsy" always seems to give 110% regardless and is a credit to you.

Shcoking. We had this last year with certain players drinking the night before a game, I thought TY and NS would have eradicated all this. Not that it's a consolation - infact perhaps it's an island thing - but I heard similar things happen at Ramsgate, although at the time I thought it was just them! They get paid a decent wage, they should show some respect.

Players being jovial was a statement in the original post. I too though have seem the same at other games. Thats not to say that being happy is wrong its just that sometimes a little discretion could be exercised and players told to collect their money and go, not to hang around the bar and get overtly jovial after a loss or bad game.

My original post wasnt to antagonise or stir the **** but to enlighten as so many bad critisms were being levelled at all players which I find unfair. Maybe frustrtation and dispair are behind all statments following saturday and some other games too, but not all have been too well thought out before being posted. Now with the info provided a slightly more deliberated and accurate summation, or indeed critique, can be debated.

Is it not also a responsibility of the team management to make training so exciting and sexy that you would not miss it for the world.;or the punishment for missing-that harsh that equally -you would not miss it.

We read of the players saying how great it is under TY and NS, but then read they regularly miss training (is that why its good under TY and Nev.)

The above is obviously extreme on both counts, and whilst TY and NS have my complete support and nothing is easy-and theory and practice are vastly different-is one of the questions-why do players want to miss training ?

If training was that good-you would walk over hot coals to be there.

Is it also a 'hidden danger' of younger players-too many distractions ?

I think its that life today has too many other pressures or alternatively what peoples perception of 'committment' actually is. Dedication comes heart, not the training ground, how boring/exciting it might be should be realtively irrelevant IMO.Although you may argue that the content is important for motivation purposes that same motivation should exist naturally and not have to ignited by what others around you necessarily do.

You can see what Ronks means by attitude with players when you watch his boy run his heart out knowing others can`t be bothered . In a way it all starts to add up when you think how Stubbsy was ridiculed for the bad games he has had but when your running around and no one else is bothered then it must get to you as it has to Danny . Fair play to Danny though he has carried on and came out on top at the end of the season with good remarks instead of bad ones . Lets hope he is around next season .

Up the Gate .
