I think clubs/leagues have to be a bit more imaginative to pull in the crowds. Clashing with the Champions League games is really not ideal, so why not choose a Monday night and have the play-off finals on a Sunday? I went to Lewes on Sunday - all the conference games were moved to Sunday 4pm because of Setanta, and although im against TV companies dictating kick-off times, moving it certaintly worked to get a bumper crowd of 800+. There was a great turn-up from York, but also lots of floating supporters like me and my mates and plenty of Brighton fans. I'm sure Barrow fans that had to travel to Eastbourne might have a different view of this, but for play off finals it makes real sense.
