Weighing up the opposition...

With the sun setting on the 2008-9 season it's time for a few observations...

 

BARKING - Shame to see them in the position they are, but are currently hamstrung by the local council and an empty clubhouse that is beerless. With a little TLC, they could be pressing for promotion.

 

BARKINGSIDE - Suffered a major blow when on-field and off-field peeps upsticks during last summer. Manager Tony Fenn is as mad as a barrel of monkeys, but has done well to get them to the League Cup final.

 

BASILDON - Surprised everybody at the start of season, winning their first six league games. Their cause wasn't helped by the longevity of Mr Gilham's ban. Would be nice to see him in blue and gold though wink

 

BOWERS - Like the curates' egg, they flattered to deceive. Strung a few results together, but need more consistency in the goal scoring dept.

 

BURNHAM RAMBLERS - Buoyed by the return of 'small' one, and looked like good bets for the title after an inauspicious start. Then the incosistency set in, which meant the cutting of their

fatboyslim good luck with all the work over the summer. you have been a welcome addition to the league this season. you have set the standard for other teams looking to join.

What good start are you referring to for Burnham???? They lost 4 out of their 1st 5..!!

 

I think you mean the 1 loss in the next 10 games after I joined....

 

2 Cup Finals and finishing 6th aint too bad though...

Whilst we are on the subject, just think its funny how Burnham were one of the favourites with a nice budget at the start of the season but lost 4 out of 5 games, but then get praise for early season form, then the players who come in for

They should also get a decent stand, put a fence round their ground and start charging kids for entry
