you usually do westie but no matter....it goes with being part time....grin

I think jane could have titled the thread better but also think she meant what she meant which ronin picked up on...the cost of promotion to conf south is high and unless someone funds it then sadly it could be a problem....there are no benefits to be had and there will be no increased revenues...just my opinion mind but it matters little as the most important thing is the team and the play off spot which after a very difficult season is a testimony to the quality of the team.....what happens afterwards is an issue for others but at the moment its to be enjoyed in all its nail biting glory come saturday.....smile

a little less wink wink nudge nudge from those that know little and aspire to greatness and a little more common sense from those that should know better would help the debate but it is after all a forum....grin

and whilst I am on here I can tell you quite openly that there will be no merger.. no enforced demotion...no insolvency and no shennanigans....there is talk of 200k's worth of debt which may well be true if we include nettes 149 grand....lets hope she doesn't ask for it back....evil

sean murphy anyone....grin

We'd like to think so Mental, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. Hence the drop in sponsorship.

A man that can bring in sponsors/doners is worth their weight in gold. Maybe that is why charities can excuse the huge wage they pay for marketing managers...

possibly bitchy but business' start up every day,you must find niches in markets,it is hard but teams like staines prove it can be done.I believe they make loads out of sponsorship, their programme was certainly full of them and they ain't doing too bad on gates lower than ours

People that do well in a recession can usually afford to. And it aint linked to footy clubs. They really are bottomless pits with no return. Except for people with the love of the game with endless pockets.

Staines have been geared up for promotion for a few years. They may have billboards and programmes full of sponsors. Try and guess how many are there to fill the pages and make the ground look pretty? There's no real money in a lot of them.

I'm not knocking trying to do the best for our clubs. I'm just looking at todays reality.

Are our teams equipped for the next level?

PS Sorry Uncs for the title of the thread. I just want to know the price of it all achso

alan boon (their chairman) funds staines and its wearing him down..has been for a while...I would imagine that he will be hoping that they lose their play off semi final....!!

its hard to quantify m'lady but lets just say that afcw won the BSS with 12k and chelmo didn't with 10k...those that were/are to be relegated would have spent more than hx did this year...

now you get to the root of the problem rob...apathy from the fans is the biggest concern that well meaning club owners have....I do not know anyone in NL football at this time that is anything but disillusioned with it all...

It is all down to money Uncs. For a promotion chasing club, the cuddlywuddly Wombles made their best investment when they bought John Main from my Angels. He and promotion did not come cheap. They've stormed it. And surprisingly Hampton and Richmond have lasted the course. The latter team have an awful ground and thier gates aren't so hot.

I'd like to know the cost of the next level in comparison to the RP.

However much we like to think out teams can cut it in the Connie we do have to step up a level, and it don't come cheap.

I disagree...the wombles best investment was terry brown who knew what was needed and bought it to the club.....the players are just a part of the jigsaw and yes main is an excellent player.....but still just part of TB's experience at work...

I'd not be bothered about Romford at all if it had not been for thier amazing run of results that earned promotion in its purest form.

Bet they really splashed the cash to storm it... evil

treeboy - hx cannot afford a successful campaign in conf sarf IMO unless someone funds it or the gates go up to at least a 1000....they may well do both and I wish them well....midtable will cost 6k and to win it will cost at least 10k..

jane - for all of their gate created money afcw still didn't hack it at RPL level until TB came in...he is an experienced connie manager and knew what was needed to get out of the RPL...its a tough league to get out of and once out (by the skin of his teeth smile) he flourished....no surprise to me that he has done so and if anyone asks CM what he thinks he'll say the same thing...JM was just another piece in his jigsaw...

I meant the people that run the clubs rob...the fans will always be happy with success and in fairness romford have waited long enough for theirs but they do pay money and will have to pay more next season unless they wanna go straight back down...
