Life is too short...RIP Pat Staunton

Recommended Posts

Sometimes events in life unfold and make you look at things in a different way.It was only the other day I found out that a good football coach and friend has died at the age of 46.Pat Staunton was a good footballer in his younger days and I'm sure a lot of people on here will remember him playing for Tonbridge,Basildon,Bishops Storford,Leytonstone-Ilford,Clapton and Dagenham in the eighties and early nineties.A sweet left foot paired with his atleticism and a nice character with good Irish connections.Recently Pat was at SUFC and Tottenham as a coach and the Urchins faithful will remember him helping Tony Ievoli u'18s side where his son Joe played. The funeral will take place next wednesday in Hornchurch at 3.00 pm and the family have requested to accept donations as opposed to flowers.Tony Ievoli will be collecting the donations as and when you can make them. Please pass this on to anyone else you can think of.

OMG, Pat was a lovely man who was always smiling when I met him and loved a chat, as Coachie has said he was a great youth coach before he went to Spurs. Pat will be always be remembered for his coaching at County Park FC and my son played against the best local youth side around for many years down to the great coaching both he and Tony gave the lads.

At the age of 43 I played a dads match in goal against him and again as Coachie has said had a sweet left foot, however I kept a clean sheet.

RIP Pat

Actually Hornchurch won it last year 3-1, we won it the year before.

All the boys got on well and my son played in midfield against Joe.

Hi to you all..played in that game against Woking when my dear friend Pat broke his ankle. We have been friends for many years, worked together and played with each other at Dagenham st albans and Leyton..even living near each other for much of that time..from beckton area and finally to where we are now in Upminster.

I have been personally shocked and stunned by this awful news.

I went to Pat's house later on that day and witnessed the devastation and sadness something like this can cause. He was a genuine family man who adored his 3 children (the youngest being just 9) and had the most loving relationship with his dear wife Denny. It was confirmed today that Pat died of heart attack whilst being fit and well and no signs of ill health. He was the loveliest of men you could meet full of fun and kindness his loss is huge to me and all his friends..but more importantly his lovely family.

Dont how this thing works but hope you all manage to see this note'not good at computer stuff...I wish you all well and spare a thought for Pat on his next journey.

Regards Roy Edwards.

Hi All,

Pat was a one of a kind person you could meet and come across.

He loved his family and his football and his friends.

I know pat very well as he was and still is my uncle and one of the best and still are, where ever you are now Pat.

Unfortauntly on 14/04/09 Pat Died at the age of 46 at Queens Hospital of a Heart Attack i was at the hospital with Pat and the Family and we miss you already, why did this have to happen to a loving, caring, healthy and respected man. You will be truly missed by everyone for the man you was and you will never be forgotten.

Gonna miss the banter we use to have for you being a tottenham fan and me being a West Ham Fan and the phone calls i get at the end of the london derby when West Ham get beat and the end of season calls sayin where did west ham finish.

I will never forget the songs you used to sing Brown eyed Girl and American Pie you will always stay in my mind.

For this to happen to such a man is a great loss to the world and still cant believe this has happend.

Will Love you and Remember you always,

Lee Boy x x x
