Game of two Halves

No need to panic just yet but the 1st half performance yesterday was shocking. If we play like that against any of the other sides in the play-offs the game will be out of sight by half time. There seemed to be no impetus to the play and we looked very one dimensional just lumping the ball forward. However.....

We were much much better in the 2nd half. The ball started to get knocked about on the floor and finally we started to use the wide players. In the end we probably had enough chances to win the game. If we play like we did in the 2nd half in the remaining games and the play-offs we should just about be ok with a little bit of luck.

One more thing, at what point did the people behind the goal in the 2nd half think it would be a good idea to sing Ben Porter's name about 2 seconds after Vine had missed a good chance?? Totally counter productive, especially considering Vine scored the only goal of the game just 48 hours earlier. Long Live the Punto Stand!

The funny thing is they think they are supporting the side!!! The Mrs Cat stand may have to come back into use for the winchester game!

Can i add congrats to Truro. Clearly the best side in the leauge. Only lost 1 match in 2009. Good luck next season i only hope we can go up with you!

One thing that confused me was we seemed to have Vine up front alone for a while after chenns went up. What vine does is win the ball in the air. Not much point having him if he has nobody to knock it on to!

I'd quite like to see Vine and Williams up front for a while as i am sure Wilo will be able to read Vine's game better

Same people who regularly abuse the ref for being short, fat, bald, ugly (and much worse) every time a free-kick is given against us up the other end of the pitch....

First half was a dreadful display but we had loads of chances that went narrowly past the left hand post in the 2nd half and based on that really deserved a draw.

Having said that I thought Uxbridge played the better, more composed, football overall, as have most teams who have visited Stag Meadow in the last 2 or 3 months. We've become a bit huff and puff as the pressure has increased.

Anyway, as a new supporter this season I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and am looking forward to an exciting conclusion to the season - there's plenty to play for that's for sure!

I was annoyed to hear the voices from the rear of the goal slating Vine's performce. I think at only 4 games in he is still finding his feet... I never made it to the Paulton away game but I am sure they cheered and sung his name in that game!

I hope Vine realises that it's a minority who was chanting against him at the Uxbridge game!

Here, here Wood Dog... Punto is the place to be!

I have to say i agree.. although I often stand behind the goal i'm not one to shout abuse at players or officials. Sounds crap but I prefer to shout encouragement.

I too was surprised when people started chanting for Ben Porter (Don't get me wrong Porter is a great player) but Vine was having a decent enough game and lets face it Scotty has done a top job this season, with some games making really good subs to change the state of play (Truro for example), so I for one am not going to tell him who to play and when to make subs. He has more than proved that he knows what he is doing and is a top notch manager for us in my book! (rant over)

I honestly think Vine once he settles in will be a decent addition to the squad. 16 league goals this season (17now) and he has a good reputation for setting up scoring oportunities too. I think people need to just give him time to settle in. Windsor players need to learn to read his game and vice versa.

Mrs Cat is the large uncovered area by the tea hut,Chicken Run is the covered 'far' area, The Park end is the 'far' goal end or is sometimes called the beerstand. The near goal is called the Town end and the punto is the small area next to the bar, There is no name for the area behind the home dugout that i know of!!!

Perhaps we could get fiat to sponser the Punto stand? Or failing that Puntos the resturant in Old Windsor!? We could do with some outside heaters there!

As the tide of support for Vine reaches tidal proportion may I just offer a word in defence. First of all I agree players need to be given a chance, but with Chen going off injured and a very similar, proven goal scorer on the bench in Porter, it was surprising not to see him brought on. As the game went on, and before the now infamous chanting, Vine was looking less and less interested, he shinned a ball and couldn't be bothered to chase it and then spazzed a goalden opportunity to at least hit the target. I think fans are allowed their opinion as to what they think should be going on. I am not the greatest fan of Vine, mostly because I don't think he offers anything more Ben or Wallace has to offer. He hasn't shown anything to make us think he is going to be fantastic or stand out. Yes, it is early days but at this stage of the season with so much at stake if you bring a player in he has to perform immediately. Defensively Weedon has done this, Cahill has played very well having little or no involvement in the season so far and with known quantities on the bench Scotty said he would only bring players into the squad who are up to it. In my opinion, he either is not up to it or needs to much time to fit in at this stage of a very tight season. Maybe he will be good, but he has been given a huge task, and I feel there were others who may have been better suited to that task. Of course I stand behind the goal so my opinion is not valid, and my comment will probably be sruck from the message board in this new era of abolition of free speech and saying what you think or feel.
