As i understand it,i believe Mr Butlers valid point is that most games there are 350/400 in attendance, boosted by two or three games attracting 1000.e.g dover, ramsgate.

All true, but its always been that way and is the same for the majority of clubs

Huh??? Hmmmmm don't remember them EVER being in the Conference!!! And what is the Conference equivalent??? It doesn't have one!

You judge a club's loyalty of support by the smallest crowds they get, not the biggest. One big crowd against a team with large away support can always skew the average figure.

Our lowest league crowd this season has been 355. Ramsgate have had 16 league crowds lower than that figure, this despite several years (until this season) of constant success.

They have not been able to nurture a significant increase in support. Part of that is down to the thuggish image they cultivate on and off the field (this ends up alienating decent people who might otherwise watch the club, and you end up left with the dregs so it becomes a vicious circle), but it is also to do with history/heritage (call it what you will).

Even if we went bust and reformed in the Kent League we would still get higher crowds.

How would that average 500+ then? Week in week out it's around 350/400 = Average of 375!!!

Jaysus, man - you don't do yourself any favours!

Are you thick? Ten crowds of 50 and a crowd of 5000 would also give an mean average of 500. Would it be honest to say the club had gates of 500 each week, ofcourse not.

The Conference has not always been around Tony_T, and Ramsgate played their football in the Southern League premier for a season playing sides such as Wimbledon FC, Burton Albion, Barnet, Telford, Yeovil Town, Weymouth, Cambridge, Dartford, Dover, Chelmsford, Nuneaten and Kettering. Big clubs IMO, a lot bigger than you cowboy outfit.

In fairness to IS I suppose I am duty bound to make a comment about "thier" as opposed "their" here as well.

Or are you all winding me up?

1. No, I'm not thick. Far from it. Please be wise in how you choose to veil your insults. I don't think I've ever done you a disservice.

2. Obviously it would not be honest to say the club had gates of 500 each week, but whichever way you spin it, the talk was of averages. So it would be true to say the average was of 500 in your given example.

Don't get me wrong, I couldn't give a fig whether its 499 or 501 for these purposes. Its a futile waste of time arguing back and forth over the internet about it. Its just as futile as trying to enter into some petty bout of oneupmanship. Please let's let it go and move on - you know its the mature thing to do...
