I'm glad that I wont be going to Thamesmead as the thought of travelling to watch a performance like that is just all too much.

I will be going to the Hammersmith Apollo to watch The Zombies in stead of that bunch of ...(I will leave that for you to finish! devil )

I'm praying for a more supportive and positive group of supporters who can use ETFC as a grand venue for socialising and sharing a common passion for sport.

My view is that supporters forst praise the Town on beating, and I quote, a 'classy' Tilbury team 1-0, but then we are sh1te again cos we got beat 1-0 by Wabbey. Thats the fickleness of supporters views.

I was'nt at the game, but from the sounds of it we were are match for Wabbey and with the current 13ish or so players we have are not far away from being a top 5 team ourselves.

For me the team foundations look solid to build on.

I always see different games to the rest of you though Abbeyman seems to have been at the same game as me.

1) We were definitely on top in the first half and, but for a poor lino, I think we would have done better. Wabbey defence was excellent but they have played together under Sontag's leadership for a long time. Number 2 impressed very much and had Campana in his pocket. It is why he was subbed in my view.

2) In the first half the only football was played by Town and Abbey were awful - playing Essex Senior League style football. Hoof the ball up field for two big men to run on to. Their problem was that with Dave Allen and Chris Wild we can deal with two tall fast front runners unlike Chandler's sides with Tickner and A N Other in the centre of the defence.

3) Second half was a totally different game. Wabbey started playing football and McKie was badly exposed on a number of occasions. I understood May's second booking but did not understand the first as the ref gave us a goal kick and no foul was given. There clearly was not an advantage to Wabbey and so I must presume it was for mouthing off.

4) I thought that Walton was calling for a wall but nobody wanted to stand next to Sammy. This must be down to the skipper and the arm band must either be given back to Rudi, Dave W or Dave A. Chris does not lead the side as he is often arguing with his back four.

5) Ellis has missed two one on ones in the last two games. We badly need a striker! Unfortunately at our level good strikers are very hard to find.

6) Luke had a groin strain. That photograph is after his overhead kick that nearly went in. He had a good first half. Billy needs a close season rest as he was off the pace yesterday and was not jumping as high as he was in earlier games.

I trust the Abbey board will be doing something about the louts that attend their matches. Or do they just want their money at the bar.

All in all the season has been poor because of our bad start take the early form out of the equation and add the last few months since Browne came into the management team we would have been challenging for a play-off place at least and next season could be very good. I think we must stick to this management team unless we have another disasterous start to next season when the matter should be looked at once more.

EU..You are a dreamer.Someone said you would spout that sort of nonsense. It was truely embarrassing watching our team playing knowing that they wouldn't have got near to scoring even if the game would have lasted 90 hours, let alone 90 minutes.Apart from maybe Danny May (who is a find),the rest of the players brought in are simply not good enough to gain promotion next season. The lack of atmosphere, spirit and belief amonst the Town faithful was very depressing to behold.

Lets face it,most of the players brought in this season were playing for mid table sides.so its no coincidence were are now a mid table side. For most fans this is the most depressing time ever to be a Town supporter.what with woefull on field displays and trouble behind the scenes. Its only the QE move that is keeping any spirits up at all.

Steph..I'd be very surprised if our form since Steve Browne came to the club, had been play-off form..I'm sure J.Cunneen can give us the wins/draws/loses since the new assistant was appointed.I know our record has improved slightly, but it would have been hard not to improve a bit from the very poor start to the season. From my perspective, its improved from bottom 8 to mid-table form.Niether of which is acceptable.

Hi'ya sunshine, how's life in sunny Spain?. You going to come back for the play-offs?.
It was a poor game yesterday, neither team played to their strenghs, still the better team on the day won in the end.

I tend to agree with Steph on all of his points, I'm sure I'll get shouted down, but although I think it was an awful game of football, we didn't play that badly. Abbey were clearly bang up for it (as you'd expect from a team whose season is very much alive), and they probably wanted it a bit more than us. We looked much better in the first half when we had some width, and playing it through the middle / long wasn't paying off. Lee White won almost all of his headers, and Abbey defended well as a team, but Campana and Marshall looked a threat from wide.

When Luke came off at half time, we looked a different team, lacking width, and Abbey started to dominate. I think that we would have asked a few more questions had we had a fit Michael Deane on the bench (or starting), as he has the pace to worry sides, stretch play a little and perhaps making us less reliant on Ellis winning flicks and holding it up. As it was, our subs were ineffectual and never looked like causing too many problems.

May's sending off was very avoidable - the 2nd booking was an attempt at the ball, but late enough to warrant a yellow (no complaints). The first booking was very avoidable (from where I was, he barged into the Abbey 9), but didn't seem to do a lot more than the 9, or Chris Wild, who both came out of the incident without a booking. Once again, a lack of discipline, but generally speaking, I think May is a fantastic find, and hope he's with us next season.

I'm not sure how people can complain about the team we're putting out at the moment, compared to the start of the season. There were games then when we looked like we were going to ship 10 goals, our midfield was non-existent and we were just getting dominated all over the pitch. Despite losing (to a clearly well organised, well disciplined side), at no point did it look like being a rout, and it took an exceptional strike to pick up the points (although what did happen to that wall?).

For me, there are some very good players in this team, Wild, McKoy, McKie (although he didn't have his best game today), May, Remy and Walton are all better than what we had either at the start of the season, or this time last season. If we can keep them together, it gives us a strong base to build on for next season. With players like Marshall, Deane, Allen & Healey as well, we have the nucleus of a decent side there. Remember that Abbey are in the play offs, were we that far away from them on yesterday showing? The same can be said for the recent games against ETU and Aveley - if we're competing against the top sides in the league now, then perhaps next season, with a few more players in choice positions, we can kick on a step further.

Don't get me wrong, this season has been awful, but I think that our performances since December have improved massively, even if our results haven't. I think people are too quick to find fault when we don't win - I'm as disappointed as everyone about losing yesterday, but I think we need to be realistic, and admit that we are moving in the right direction on the field. I must admit that I don't know the ins and outs of what goes on off the field (I'm here for the footie), and perhaps people's frustrations with other aspects of the club make it easier to find fault on the pitch?

Anyway - I'd rather not dwell on this one - let's try to finish the season with 2 wins from 2, have a good close/pre-season (without 100 odd different players playing), and get the team/squad how we want it from the off next season. I honestly think that we have got the foundations in place already with most of this side (although footie is about opinions, and I'm sure there will be a fair share of people who disagree with me).

Played 23
Won 11
Draw 3
Loss 9

for 33
against 27

pts 36 out of 69........52.2%

over the course of the season equates to 66 points - last season we got 63. Mid table at very best

True, and I'm not about to argue, but if we look at how it was this season before Browne came to the club:

Played 17
Won 5
Draw 4
Lost 8

Points = 19 out of 51 = 37.25%

I'd say that's an improvement (albeit an improvement on what I'd say was the worst Town team there's been).

And as a footy man, its all about progress and improvement. We've had the management from Chandler to Margolis, then we have had the change of the playing personnel. We've had issues with some of the players and thats been resolved. We now have a new nucleous that needs to be built on, lets hope they all stay-Why do I ask that??? Cos if I was a decent player (that was once upon a time) today at ETFC and was reading some of the eccentric comments on here of my team and the performances, I'd go elsewhere at a happier, more knowledgeable and more encouraging surroundings. The names of May, McCoy, Mckie, Wild and Remy come to mind.

LS-Your basing your arguement on one end of season fixture away to a play off challenging team. I'm sorry to say but Thats how fickle your comment here is.

How did they play Saturday?? Or against Wingate at home when we were down to 9 men?? Or at home to ETU and away to Ware.

To answer your question to Barney-McCoy and Edgar are not the problem, its who they have around them, for goodness sake we got beat to a free kick in injury time. DISASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

What we have is potential to build on
