What a rubbish game!!! angry Apart from a fairly good fist 15 we seemed devoid of any real direction. A poor even first half. Cannot understand why Luke was brought off at half time. He was probably our best player in the first half. From there on we lacked any decent width and once we were down to 10 men you just knew that it would only be time. I cannot remeber us putting their keeper under any pressure in the second half. Walton pulled off one great save but when they got a free kick he called for on;ly 1 in the wall which they duly scored a very good goal from. All in all a poor game but a deserved win for Abbey.

 

One final comment. The Abbey fans behind the goal were animals. I know bad language is something you get at football matched but the drunken abuse spouting from their mouths was way OTT. The steward did nothgin aoubt it. One of their fans even ran onto the pitch during play. Finally Ellis was referred to as a monkey. WAbbey fans need to clean their act up as it was a disgrace.

Poor game.

Both sides lacking any real ideas.

Referee thinking it was all bout him.

Crap atmosphere with Wabbey Chavs only awake in last 10 mins.

 

 

Super free kick to win the game - 92nd min. BUT, should it have been a free kick ?

 

Town finish with TEN Players again !!!!!

 

Ref added 5 mins first half and 4 second half ? WHY.

 

I think the Wabbey will need to improve on this performance if they to get thro' the play-offs, BUT at least they are there, so well done to them.

I wasnt there but let me pre-empt EU's analysis, I reckon it will go something like.......

 

"A good performance against a top 5 side & only a free kick in the last minute robbed a spirited Town team a well earned draw"

So who was sent off today then? & how's the seasons stats on sending off's & bookings going? Have we improved from last season?

To be honest, this was probably the worst waltham abbey vs. Townies game that I have ever seen! The first half was a total non-event... just like a pre-season friendly. Townies probably just about shaded it.

 

They had a good chance right at the start of the second half when Ellis Remy, who should have don't better, had a header which was well saved by Richard Hayward.

 

We then began to boss the proceedings but with both Harry Elmes and Billy Holland missing just lacked something... Danny May was sent off for a second yellow with 7 minutes to go.

 

Denny Webb scored the winner - and secured a playoff place - in the 89th minute with a cracking free-kick. Five minutes added was justified. Neither goalkeeper had a great deal to do.

 

All in all, not a classic (!) but job well done for The Abbotts. Play-offs here we come...

 

Historical Note : Whatever happens in the play-offs, The Abbotts will finish the season as the highest placed team in the area.

Today summed up the season. A relatively poor game, discontent in the bar before the game, a sending off, hoofing the ball up field, a reckless jumping challenge which lead to a free kick which ultimately lead to the only goal of the game. A direct free kick from a long way out and defended by an invisible wall. I was standing at the far end and the free kick was as straight and direct as you will ever see a ball being hit.

 

Anyone question why both wide players were taken off and replaced with players who then played in the middle of the pitch. Was Campana injured? I didn't like the way he was just allowed to walk off after being substituted but then again, he may have been p....d off.

 

As for the end of the game, players arguing on the pitch whilst the management duo just casually walk off to the changing rooms.

 

Not at all good news, but no doubt some people will think nothing is wrong.

It sounded to me that Walton was desperately trying to 'persuade' at least one other teammate to join the wall. A view backed up by what he was saying after the final whistle.

At least the photos shouldn't take too long to sort out.

Shows what a very poor squad we actually have. doh

Apart from the Pots Bar Charity thingy whatsit of course. drinkies

 

Poor season.

 

NOT at all sure about this MANAGEMENT TEAM.

Last season - 132 bookings - 14 sent off
This season - 86 bookings - 9 sent off
