Beaconsfield v Slough Town

Recommended Posts

Very good game where we were stronger 1st half and they came back in the second, but we kept it tight and defended well and got the point.

Graham Edwards had a good game and seems to be developing well into the side - one for next season, and Roy Gumbs charged for the whole 90 mins showing the passion the fans love. DJ was far more active playing back off the front players and had a cracker.

Overall a good performance by Slough that made Beaconsfield look average.

yep Taunton cannot catch us. Winchester have to win 3 outta 3 to go ahead of us (i think)

good performance today we battled well and there was not that many chances conceded to Beaconsfield. we never had many chances either

would be great if we could keep hold of Edwards for next season hopefully extending his work experience deal from Palace

Hats off to the lads today, real gutsy effort as Beaconsfield dominated in the second-half when we looked tired with us scrapping to get the last remaining points needed.

Could have done with that type of gutsy performance a few other times this season as well.

Thought Deano and Edwards were excellent at the back and Jacko's last minute save was excellent.

I'm sure Beaconsfield are the type of side that Steve wants to build for next season - a team. We've never looked like a team this season, just eleven individuals at times, which is why we are where we are.

A good solid display, where we were better in the first half and defended well in the second when Beaconsfield stepped it up and really came at us.

Well done to all the lads they did really well, a few little frustrating bits, but overall good, defending well and trying to come forward with some good football.

A much better performance than of late, which must convince even the doomiest of doom mongers that we are now safe.

Positives for me were Roy's efforts up front, a good performance throughout the defence, especially Edwards and Fenton, who kept Bradley Bubb pretty quiet. Jordan also had a good game.

I'm still concerned about Kean though, whose passes still go astray a lot, Platt didn't look very interested and our Bubb didn't have one of his better days.

Still we can now start planning for next season and a hopefully improved team, one that is actually competitive in this division.

I had to leave with half an hour to go but thought we did well and limited a decent side to very few chances. In fact, in the first half we were the better team.

Was very impressed with Edwards who just did simple things very well. Very good positional sense as he always seemed to be in the right place. It was funny however seeing him bring the ball out of defence across the halfway line and then realising he didn't know what the hell to do with it!!

for a 0-0 draw I really enjoyed that game. Maybe it was because I expected we would lose, maybe it was because, for a change, most were tryng or maybe it was just that the sun was shining and it was a relatively good game. Whatever it was I feel positive about next season.

Bateman is the man for the job. Kean is starting to look like he will be the man to drive forward from the centre of the park. Harper, Edwards, Sweeney and Fenton look like the making of a good back four; with Fenton's ability to tirelessly defend and get forward to attack impressing no end and always Jacko is a rock in goal. If we keep these and Bateman brings in some real goalscoring talent to add to Sinclair up front I reckon next season will be something to cheer about.

We'll probably get stuffed at Didcot but I'm already looking forward to next season.

Come on you Rebels!

It's great that some people seem to have a re-newed air of optimism and are already looking forward to next season and still being in this division.

Coming down to earth just a tad, until we either get the point thats required or Bracknell or Winchester drop points, we are not home and dry.

Looking at the games left, on paper we have the harder teams to play. Bracknell and Winchester are both playing teams that will have nothing to play for. This includes Windsor who, by the time they play Winchester in the last game of the season will have their minds firmly fixed on the play-offs and will be well beatable.

We go to Didcot next Saturday and after their loss today will be desperate to beat us to secure a play-off place. We then play Gosport, which is our most winable game. Last game of the season we play Bridgewater who, in theory, could need to beat us to secure a play-off place.

So, until we are 100% safe I will not be counting any chickens.

Good game - it ebbed and flowed with both sides having spells on top. I thought we were fantastic particularly for most of the first half, without having that cutting edge up front.

Towards the end of the game we were hanging on somewhat as SYCOB had all the possession and we looked tired, but it was a deserved point against a side who have been winning games consistently all season.

I know we can still go down but I can't really see it happening now. Regardless of what other sides do, I still think we have a great chance in the two remaining home games and can go to Didcot knowing the pressure is on them to win.

It's weeks since we played like we were all working for each other. That was a well earned & deserved point. Interesting that we can play well against the better footballing sides and fail miserably against the hump it pump it merchants.

The introduction of Sinclair, Sweeney, Sealey, Edwards, Keen has been good. These guys are the roots of the new STFC on the field.

Hopefully the new manager will have us playing this way as a matter of routine next season. Can't see us going down after today's results, but 3 more points will do it for certain.

well i can see from the lack of complaints the officials had a good game today, whichis a good thing they should not really be noticable and should be able to keep control of the game without infringing on the entertainment and today i for one believe they did that, well done the officials.

I thought the officials had an excellent game. Kept the game flowing and allowed the football to be the showpiece which is as it should be. The ref from Saturday could learn a lot from that guy.

We played well, a good determined effort and first half we shaded it and second half we had to dig in for a point. I thought everybody played well but special mention to Edwards who I thought was excellent and Byron who ran him close for MOTM.

The ref was a very commanding figure, sort of no nonsense and the the players seemed to respect him, linesmen were also first rate didnt miss anything including the last minute sycob attempt.

On that performance you wouldnt think it was one team in the play-offs and the other fighting relegation,a couple of months ago we would have lost that game no doubt.

The team work was pleasing and what was also pleasing to see was DJ having a go at goal with confidence, there was probably a lot of pressure on him coming in this season to score a lot of goals, lets hope he's back to 20 plus goals next season.

Also a word has to be said about Roy Gumbs, never ever given less than 100% and was a rock up front in the air and winning the ball.

There are surely a few contenders for player of the season.

Dean Harper who has been good for most of the season, DJ who while not scoring as many goals has made a lot of difference in individual games and Jacko who what can you say has been the difference between us staying up and being relegated to step 5.

Yes I would agree the same order for Harper and Jordan probably put Fenton before Jackson as he did cost us in crucial games Hayes, Burnham and the one between them two which I cant remember who it was
