League calls on fans to watch England on BBC

Recommended Posts

THE Football League has, today, called on all football supporters to watch the remainder of England’s World Cup games on BBC rather than ITV, following the failure of ITV companies, Carlton and Granada, to honour the £178.5 million owed to League clubs after the collapse of ITV Digital. League spokesman John Nagle, said:

"The Football League would like to ask all those who love the game and love our clubs to watch England’s remaining World Cup games on BBC in preference to ITV. Carlton and Granada are cynically seeking to earn revenue off the success of the England team, through advertising, whilst at the very same time their actions threaten to destroy the bedrock of the English game.

"By taking this action all football supporters can show clear support for the League and its clubs, helping them to survive so that they can continue developing the talented footballers that have made England such a force at this World Cup."

The Football League has been joined in this campaign by the Football Fans Union and supporters wishing to register their support can do so at The-FFU.com/itv

Does anybody actually watch ITV in preference to BBC when they are both screening the same game? My grandmother knows more about football than that useless clown Ron Atkinson.
