its interesting spending a few days up here to see how this area compares to ours. Lancaster city my adopted team are in the unibond division one north at step 4 on par with our ryman one north, on friday they entertained local rivals bamber bridge who are 39 miles away, yes they are their closest team.

Lancaster city are the most isolated non league team in the country, theres no local sides apart from them at steps 1-6,if you go down south to blackpool and preston then you get plenty of sides clustered together but in a 30 mile radius of lancaster there is no one,think of how many teams there are in a 30 mile radius of basildon.

interesting to note that teams in the unibond north travel twice as far as teams in the ryman north and play less matches!! got to say the standard of football on show is far superior to ryman north and the grounds also seem better.

in ryman north & south the teams are all bunched together,meaning less crowds as every club is competing with each other and their neighbours.

up north the towns are further apart meaning bigger gates as they are more "home town clubs" and with more revenue they have always had better grounds.

no disrespect to many ryman one north sides but many have not played higher than the league they are in now,whereas in the unibond one north most have played in at least unibond prem

We travelled 45 miles yesterday to the Rossendale game - and that is the second nearest team for Lancaster!
