Passes

Recommended Posts

Not wishing to be controversial or to rock the boat but the ESL and indeed non league football in general need to look at the issue of passes for officials.

I know that Basildon United doesnt have the best reputation in non league football but the one thing we do do is pay our way at away matches.

The most passes we have used at an away match all season is 3,whenever the directors attend a match they always pay, former secretary Terri would always pay on the gate at away matches despite having a pass so when opposition clubs visit us and their FANS have passes it leaves us annoyed to say the least.

theres two alternatives either we adopt the same policy as other clubs and we start giving fans and relations passes at away clubs meaning that they suffer in the same way we do now or the preferred option we all start playing fair and everyone benefits.

I estimate at least

When Joe played for Bas Utd, his mum and I paid a fiver each and Joe played for free.

At the end of the day Richard clubs can only use the amount of passes they are given. Admittedly Romford have distributed all of theirs this season. They have been given to people considered to be on the committee as a thanks for all the hard work they do, running the club.

If we get 10 passes and give out 10, that's fine, if we only had 6 we would only give out 6.

A bigger issue I think is the waste of food in boardrooms. People take the time and effort to buy the food, make the tea lay it out etc. to find the opposing club have sent no one, or only one person to the game. The food then gets either thrown away or given to supporters, which is a cost the club has to bear. I suspect the majority of the

hold up realist,so romford reward people with passes, thats fine for home matches but when they come to basildon then basildon united reward them with free admission for work they do at romford? so basically other clubs pay for your volunteers, right happy you've clearly that up.

i rarely go into boardrooms as i prefer to have a quick pint at half time but next season frankie ford will be going to more basildon away matches and there wont be no wasted food with him in the boardroom.

As far as I am aware each club is given the same amount of passes at the end of the season. Some clubs like ours will have a committee of 10 or so people, others will only have 2 or 3 committee members. What other clubs do with any spares I do not know.

Of course it is a reward. What did you think free passes were for. At an away game only the secretary really has to be there, so why give these out ? I suggested a couple of years ago when one club alleged we were using 20 plus, that they be scrapped altogether. No issue then, everyone, but everyone pays.
