Tiptree have already been mentioned but heard on the non league grapevine that FC Clacton are joining and also that Kelvedon Hatch from the Essex Olympian league are going to groundshare at Brentwood and join as well !! any other "rumours"

No chance! They'll get a reprieve due to other clubs merging or going bust! It's a promoted team for a relegated one but we never get a fair deal!

Don't be surprised at another attempt by Bethnal Green United, based at Mile End, to join our league. Sporting Bengal also have made noises about coming across to the ESL.

I notice they picked up 3 points at the weekend. That brings the total of points won in 2009 to, erm, 3.

I wonder if Witham could be tempted by the ESL if they saw Tiptree were joining it? Assuming, of course, they don't get a repreive.

I work in the Mile End Road... I will keep listening out for the word on the street.

Kelvedon hatch no chance,no floodlights installed at their ground, only way they can progress if they can ground share which has already been mentioned earlier in this thread

The last thing I ever want to be is negative when it comes to encouraging " new" clubs but the F A will not allow clubs to join a Step 5 League now on a groundshare unless they have been in that position for at least a season. ( Remember even AFC Liverpool were not allowed at Step 5 ). Also a club joining must have floodlights for a start and can be given a year to sort out other remedial work. What has happened in the past with regard to criteria for membership is, as I say " in the past" and every year I reluctantly have to say that the goalposts seem to change.

I am very hopeful that, in the continuing and very unfortunate absence of a Step 6 division ( There will not be one in 2009-2010 ) the FA will continue to see fit to allow a club that fulfils that criteria and ends up in the top two of a Step 7 ( Takeley last season ) League such as the EOL or Middlesex League will be able to apply for membership - we shall see !

The sad state of affairs that news of some clubs above Step 5 are struggling to survive could may well mean that we could see a club promoted without any in return, so, if an alternative is a club or clubs switching from another Step 5 League to ours for geographical reasons , then that is a move I have envisaged for years and would not only assist greatly in increasing our constitution but would help clubs tremendously in these tight times on their travel budgets.

Hopefully this information may assist in folk understanding my present thinking and hopes for a strengthened ESL.

That will be a choker if Romford / Enfield go up, and nobody else comes down.

With the state of so many non league teams in Step 5 and above, due to the economic crisis, teams will have to be pushed up leagues / reprieved to make up the numbers in Ryman Leagues and higher.

Ultimately, the big losers could be the ESL.

Yes, there is always the possibility of a club having to drop two divisions because they are re-organising or re-forming themselves. Then there are past scenario's like Scarborough failing in another part of the country but saving Ilford .. so how will the news of Team Bath affect the lower leagues .. its only just started folks !
