North Leigh 3 - 1 Andover

Lot of talk behind the goal Saturday about us being 'safe', which I was suprised about. I very much disagreed and tonight prooves it, a win for Bracknell now on Thursday against Bridgewater puts them only 2 points behind us. With us having to play 2 of the top six in the remaining matches.

They and Winchester are on a roll now. We don't want to rely on othr teams 'folding' again, plus it makes trying to sign players very hard in the early part of the season as Sweetman found.

We're very much in this relegation fight boys and girls, massive match Saturday. I'm very worried, don't know about anyone else?

thats just it our form is so inconsistent and we havent strung results together at all at any point really

i just hope the charity aspect of saturdays match does not overshadow the fact that we have a great deal of work to do. its no longer only saturday and safety either we need at least 2 more wins

A massive day for the football club if you ask me, a win and we near enough condemn Taunton to relegation (they could then only catch us on GD)and it would make us safe, as I can't see two teams in this league getting 40+ points to stay-up,

But and I really don't want to think about a loss, especially if results don't go our way again. That's how big a game Saturday is now.

For example if Bracknell won Thurs, and Saturday we lost and other teams picked up points we could find ourselves in the bottom 3, three points off the drop zone, with 4 to play and two of them against Promotion chasing sides.

It really is a six-pointer now!

To be honest, when Steve Bateman took over I was expecting us to have a few more points on the board at this stage. I know miracles don't happen overnight but we have brought a lot of new players in and our situation has been made worse by the recent resurgence of Winchester (somewhat understandable) and Bracknell (which I didn't really see coming, I must admit).

IF we beat Taunton I think we'll be fine as they still have Truro to play in the run-in. But Bracknell and Winchester both have difficult-looking games against Beaconsfield and Didcot this weekend too, so things may look very different at 4.45 on Saturday!

the fans need to get right behind the team and make sure we win this game making the whole day a massive success story. new players havent improved us as quick as we hoped and it has not quite worked out yet. i must admit i did not think we would be this close to relegation still at this point. still we are worrying about others and if we aint careful looking at others wont be good enough to get us safe.

mr Bateman has been a flop so far and where we were looking over our sholders at others under sweetman never thought we would have got dragged in even though performances were inconsistent. Batemans appointment has caused unrest uncertainty and the 11 or so new players asked to Gel at this late stage!!! poor management from the chairman if im honest! the changes made has dragged us in sweetman yes was probably the man to stablise us and not to take us forward as bateman could be but not with 14 games left im sorry! this predicament is of our own doing. However whats done is done, we need to get behind the troops for some big games coming up and hope lady luck runs out for bracknell and winchester.... Next season in this div with bateman?? maybe better.

There are 3 things in this league that drive the results. One is the referee's decisons which in all honesty at this level the refereees are atrocious. For instance last night the Hayes 5 deliberately kicks our goalkeeper, the lion sees the incident but the playeronly gets booked, no red card. The second is the players avaialable, which depends upon the club's budget. Lastly is luck. Bracknell must have lost at least 10-12 points this season due to bad luck, mostly around incorrect referee's decisions.

Last night Hayes could not finish although they had several good chances. This is not down to luck but Hayes inability to put the ball in the net, even their manager agreed.

Now the fun part is that Slough are having a difficult run and being brought into the relegation battle. However what we need you guys to do is beat Taunton, which you are more than capable of with your "new" squad, so the very best of luck on Saturday. Of course should you lose then we are all in the mire together.

I agree Saturday's game is important but there is still a huge amount of unneccessary pessimism on here.

Taunton are as good as down and just a draw with us on Saturday will be enough to condemn them. So that's one down. Winchester have been having a good run but they are still seven points behind us with only five games to play. And they have two top five sides in Windsor and Didcot to play, just like us. And good runs can end for any team can end as quickly as they start. It's unreasonable to expect Winchester to win there last five games.

Bracknell have an easier run in on paper but still have to play Beaconsfield. They are winning games by odd goals and that sort of run is the quickest to crumble, built as it is on good fortune. Again it is unreasonable to expect them to win their last five.

Slough are inconsistent, very inconsistent, but we too can expect some points in our last five as well. So need to panic folks, we're as safe as houses.
