Premier League Relegation Battle

Recommended Posts

Looking for people's opinions as to who will be going down this year?

Seen a lot of "banter" on here from Guildford and the likes talking about it but maybe a sensible conversation?

Who will be/has applied to come up from the feeder leagues?

Hello the Hog,

Assuming that three go down - which may not even happen (or so my tomato sources tell me, please feel free to correct me!).

Then you have a fairly straight forward race between us (Guildford), Chessington, Wembley and Bedfont.

Sandhurst, who until recently were very much in the thick of it, and Bookham can still be dragged down into it.

Chessington and ourselves have the advantage of games in hand over the others, but of course these count for nothing solid.

The other factor is our terrible goal difference, effectively meaning we will need an extra point to be sure of safety.

To spice things up, we still have the following 'six-pointers' to come:

11/04

Guildford v Bookham

Wembley v Chessington

13/04

Bedfont v Wembley

18/04

Guildford v Bedfont

with the (almost) last day of the season providing:

Bookham v Chessington

Then of course add in the fact that Bookham have one match to play after everyone else is finished, so if they DO go on a run and end up in trouble, they have the simple task of beating Camberley at home to help them.

I would go into form and things, but it's so unpredictable it's hardly worth it. Everyone thought Wembley would be well out of it by now, but they aren't.

As much as I hope that's true...

That would really make the end of the season a bit of a damp squib.

What about Dorking? Surely they can go up?

To do so they need to finish in the top 3 - possible, but unlikely

Oh ye of little faith. I can see 12 points from 12 available out of the next 4 fixtures (MVSCR X2, Hanworth and Knaphill). Or am I being too optimistic? wink

Hmm and both away i see! They'll need a decent last line of defence for those two wink

Anyway after Frimley's win over MVSCR, i'll remain cautiously optimistic of some unexpected results to come over the next few days and weeks. Will all be academic if the Chicks don't do their bit though....

I think Dorking pretty much have to win all their games now. I fancy Lammas to win the league with HV second. Knaphill might even pip Mole Valley for third as they are stuttering at the moment (hopefully MV stutter for at least one more game).

Shame as I'd like three sides to go up and three down. Matters should be sorted on the pitch not due to grounds at this level (although to be fair some in Div 1 are truly awful).

You & me both Wacko, but would've thought you'd want them to stutter on Saturday as well grin

Here are some interesting facts and figures:

Mole Valley: No win in 3, dropped 8pts in the last 15, max poss points 76

Hanworth Villa: 2 wins in the last 5, dropped 6 in last 18, max poss points 77

Staines Lammas: 1 win in last 3, dropped 5 in last 15, max poss points 76

Knaphill: 4 wins in last 4, dropped 5 in last 18, max poss points 80

Dorking: 2 wins in last 5, dropped 7 in last 18 max poss points 74

and with at least two, if not all four other teams dropping points this week, Knaphill's position begins to look even stronger. Dorking have still to play 4 games against the top temas - a tall order. The date to look for is the 28th April - Knaphill v MVSCR, this could be the championship decider. By the 28th Mole Valley, Hanworth & Staines will all have finished their seasons, Knaphill will still have 2 more games to play (Dorking will still have 1 as well). The next few weeks are going to prove to be vital. I see only one team going up this year, and as last year it may well be the third placed team!

COME ON YOU KNAPPERS!!!!
