Gordon Slams "Non League Paper"

Recommended Posts

Glad to hear Grant's response to the lies printed by the Non League Paper. I have always believed he was shrewd enough to not read too much into the comments of one or two career whingers on here.

Groynestrain, next week can re-print NLP reports on;

Brentwood, Avely, E Thurrock, Tilbury, Maldon, Heybridge, Afc Hornchurch, Canvey, Swifts, Braintree & Gray's, along with any interesting letters, and news on, appointments and sackings...please

That'll save me buying the NLP,I don't take much notice of the other stuff.

No need to copy me anything Billericay, we have a fantasitic web site that gives us all the latest BTFC news.

He did say he felt sorry for Jason as he has worked so hard.

I look at the fans' forum and they're saying the new players we've worked so hard to bring in aren't good enough for Billericay Town!

He said he was disappointed that ONE or TWO supporters had criticised the new signings before they'd even seen them play.

They seriously have not helped Jason or myself. They have not been patient and are more often than not very harsh and very negative.

He did not say that at all. Any one who knows Grant knows he gets on well with most of the fans and that just isnt his style.

I just hope that some of the fans give the new man more of a chance and more support than they did us."

He did not say this either. He said he hoped the fans gave the new manager a chance to succeed.

Gordon added "I don't want to leave the club in the lurch so I am going to do everything I can to make sure the transition is as peaceful as possible."

If you put that in the right context (as it was intended)it is a positive statement.

I think that if you know Grant you will know he only has the best interests of the club and its supporters at heart and you know he just wouldnt come out with that sort of stuff thats been reported.

Anyways onwards and upwards

Come on you Blues!!

Thanks for that jl

It does sound pretty cr@p but then thats newspapers for ya.

I spoke with Grant after the game as did quite a few of us at the club and he never indicated that he was upset with anyone at the club or it's supporters.

He's a hell of a nice bloke and it's not nice to see him being misquoted by the press.

I think the original post should have been left since it wasn't libellous or personally abusive, and just quoted the NLP.

Surely we're grown up enough to argue the toss rather than delete things we don't like the sound of?

Hey, don't make me out to be some sort of stirrer. That was something I genuinely thought Billericay supporters would be somewhat interested in, and seeing as it hadn't been mentioned either on here or the Ryman forum, thought I'd put the whole article on here.

My line is chat and banter, I don't get involved with slagging off, just a gentle leg pull every now and then. I've been going to Billericay games very occasionally since the mid-70's, seen an ESL title won there (for the Bees of course wink ) , went to Wembley and saw Almondsbury Greenway hammered, seen dire 0-0 draws against the likes of say, Leyton in the 80's, etc., so there's no axe to grind with the club, quite the contrary.

Your insinuation, without saying it outright, that I'm just putting something on here to cause some friction, is duly noted. I like to think I'm a good humoured sort of person and, much like Mr. Gordon, I too get upset if my character is called into question unfairly.

Thank you.

You might be a really nice bloke, Groynestrain, but my old Mum taught me nor to trust anyone who talks in Italics.

I never said I was trustworthy! grin

I just wanted to make it clear that there's no agenda on my part, but that The Town Crier's response indicated that I might have, which is completely incorrect.

Thank you.
