winchester v slough town

Unlucky Malc.

Very poor second half, especially disappointing for those of us who thought that we could get something from the game at half time.

After going a goal down we responded quite well, Sinclair got us a great goal to equalise, but he then went off injured, and things started to go bad from there on really.

Some of our players went AWOL in the second half, and this meant that we couldnt get anything from the game after about 55mins.

Panic not until at least next Saturday ! The taunton Match looks to be a must need game..

Yes we looked a little jaded in the second half... and if ! IF their keeper had not made that finger tipped save and kyle shot come lob in the first half went in instead of hitting the bar and danny jordan had not missed the sitter, a draw maybe would have been a fairer score line ! to be fair Winchester are on a roll..3 win on the trot with new players and backer that seam to have done the trick for them..they certainally did not look like a team that should have been in the bottom 2 places...

However the job in hand for Slough is in our own hands and the boys know what to do ! so see you all next Saturday ,

Overall a fairly even game with both defences looking suspect when attacked.

First goal for Winchester Ryan Fenton was beaten to the header and the ball flew into the net giving Jacko no chance.

Second Winchester goal was a shot that went through a ruck of players and seamed to go in off Tyron Sealey who was covering one of the posts.

Their third goal seemed to go through Jacko's body with maybe the pace of the shot beating Jacko.

IMO a couple of strange decisions.

In the game against Paulton DJ probably had his best game for us in midfield and today he played as one of the two main strikers and apart from his involvement in our goal IMO had another game where apart from one chance never looked like scoring and Romeo was pushed back into a deeper role behind the front two.

Certainly by half-time and into the second half it was fairly obvious that their number 11 had the beating of Kyle Jeffrey.

Again IMO I would have switched Sweeney to right back, which is his natural position and put Evans alongside Edwards.

With Bracknell winning and Winchester on a role the Taunton game has become a must win game. After that we have 4 games left against Beaconsfield, Didcot, Gosport and Bridgewater which are 4 tough games that we could quite easily lose.

Thing is though Chris Winchester weren't very good! We shouldn't have lost, but how do we get turned over so easily? Even the changes in personnel haven't helped. How many saves did Jacko have to make barring the goals?

It's perplexing and really frustrating. We were the only likely winners up to 55/60 mins. Winchester made a substitution and we succumbed to the usual couple of biff bang goals, no way back on a difficult surface. Thank you Slough for the 3 points.

I left with 20 minutes to go, I'd had enough and not for the first time this season.

godness me....this was never our worse performance by a long way...winchester are certianly better now than they were ...results are proving that..something we have to do...

we created as many chances as they did and we need to convert these chances we all know we do...just hope we get a few breaks too... we lost sinclair who was giving us width in the first half..and just did not get going again...but I am sure we can get ourselves sort we will be alright...

The turning point for me was Sinclair going off injured. He was our most potent attacking threat and worked his socks off to cover defensively as well. When he went off we seemed to lack ideas in the final third.

First half we edged things in open play and could have maybe scored a couple more. Started the second half quite brightly but couldn't get ahead and then as the match wore on you could see that they wanted it more.

Telfer was incidentally excellent in the first half. His passing was different class and he and Kean were controlling the midfield. But did fade in the second half which I guess is understandable.

While I think Mr Bateman will have a lot more going for himself

than Sweetman( well in fact I already know that). But I am some what bemused that he never adhered to the old football maxim-NEVER change a winning side( apart from injuries. The only thing I can think of is he wants to look at all the squad before the season ends-and thought maybe Winchester would be a team to do it against.

Good first half, poor second half. I agree with Martin, the turning point was Sinclair going off, that seeemed to fire them up more in the second half. Lets hope he is fit for Taunton on Saturday. I have a feeling that it will be Taunton and Bracknell who finish in the last two slots, as Taunton only have four left and one of them is Truro.

Won't say anything much on the game. I think everyone thought (and even the players) that after we drew level, and the way we took control early 2nd half in the opening 10 mins there was only one winner. Then they scored and we were a shambles for the rest of the game.

Also we had excellent support up there as well, must have been 80+ fans. That for a side 17th in the league is pretty amazing. Most Conference South sides would not take that many.

Just makesyou think what could happen if we were to challenge and get things right on the pitch.
