GWR latest

Lets be honest here, we seem to lack discipline & organisation on & off the field based on previous seasons, a small thing like the state of the team strip yesterday speaks volumes about what is wrong at the club at the moment & as LS stated this behind the scenes nonsense seems like a load of [****!!****], and maybe those involved in the main should maybe grow up & get on with whatever it is they are supposed to do or just leave.

I turn up each week to watch my club play football & without doubt this season is the worst in our short history, yesterday was awful, we are not far short of a shambles, I hope in the close season a new disciplined manager arrives & sorts us out otherwise I fear for the start of the 2010/11 season at the QE stadium.

When was the last time we won 'every game'? In my experience the opposition usually have something to say about such an aspiration.

I can recall one handsome win at GWR, that's all.

If we don't think we should win every game, then there's no point in turning up.

I honestly do not disagree alot with all the last 6-7 posts on this thread. However Andy-We can believe we can win every game, but actually achieving it is another thing. If we did then it'd be a mickey mouse league.

I'm glad some have opened up a little with acknowledging the behind the scenes conflict. I'm afraid the managers responsibilities are the team and not providing the kit. So why were we looking a shambles????? My gut feeling tells me some undermining could be responsible, if so, then thats totally unacceptable and of the lower order.

Add the despicable comments which Gazza refers too, then our club remains and will remain of the lowest order whilst that horrible cloud stays present over OUR club.

We need 2009 thinking persons on the board and not the Flintstones and Barney rubble characters that are around. How can we possibly enforce discipline and demand better from players when the off field has ill discipline and the inability to meet commitments, dont mis-understand me this is not the reason for our poor season, but we'll have many more if we dont move along in a contemporary way.

On the Jim Chandler issue and his one mid season. I'd like to say that their were many who did'nt hold back putting the boot in when the chips were down. Maybe he was ok for us after all, however thats the past now and we need to move forward and positively, on and most definately off the pitch.

Lets hope we can have a top 10 finish and at least look back and say we finished higher than last season.

If we beleve we can win every game then we have some form of objective in mind. Arsene Wenger once said that Arsenal would remain unbeaten throughout the rest of a season. It didn't happen, but at least they did try.

The Premiership was not a Mickey Mouse league when Arsenal did go through a season without losing. They just happened to be a very good team who were better than the rest.

We believed, because we were told, that we were good enough to at least get into the play offs this season. At least we had something to aim for even though we failed.

Chaps , speaking as someone who played against you on Saturday ( and scored the opening goal , thought id get that in early !!) , I cant see too much wrong with the town team. To a man after the game all our lads said the same thing , and that is if that team stays together for next season you will be top 6 easily .

A few of your players were quality , nameley the number 2 , whose technique at passing a football was faultless, Ellis Remy , who I think on that showing is one of the best forwards in the division, and the number 11 who was very hard to mark.

If that team stays together and you add maybe 1 or 2 more then the play offs will be in easy reach. When i come on this forum it all seems doom and gloom , but for a freak goal at the end youd be talking about a draw , which on the balance of things would have probably been a fair result. You passed the ball around really well and on another day you would have beaten us by 2 or 3 . Its easy to blame everyone and everything when you lose, but you have the basis of a really good side there , especially if Steve Browne is in charge of them.

OneBreast - Seems that I saw the same game as you played in. I thought that we played well and if the run of the ball had been a bit different we would have shaded it.

Have people forgotten that as well as missing a penalty - we also hit the bar.

I have one disagreement. Namely Ellis Remy. I felt that he was off the pace on Saturday and did not take responsibility. There was one time when I felt that he had a shooting opportunity but slipped the ball to Luke Marshall. Another time Billy Healey at front fell during a tackle. (The ball I recall was shot hard into him) He had time to get up and chase the ball and challenged your goalie for it. Ellis was nearer to the ball after Billy fell yet did not do any running. He may have been carrying a knock but it is my view that if he doesn't want to give 100% to the Town then I would rather Sammy Winston or Ozzie Foster was wearing his shirt.

On the whole I think the tactical changes you made at half time gave the game to you as we did not respond. First half we dominated the middle of the pitch and you were getting caught with offside. Second half I believed that you put another man in the middle Billy Healey was marked out the game and then you could develop your attacks.

Still a good game played in a good spirit and, at times, town's passing play from the middle was a joy to behold.

I also learnt from your programme that prize money goes down to tenth place and that has to be our goal (and yours) for the remainder of the season.

Best of luck.

I have to say I always enjoy my trips to GWR though this time I did not go by boat we camped on Mersea Island instead. Had a delightful weekend with the fitting out supper at the White Hart West Mersea Saturday evening and a walk around Goldhanger Sunday with Morris dancing as well. (Not real morris you understand as it was a ladies side!)

CRFCB , ha ha no chance mate ! Do you see a non driver like me getting to enfield every week !!

Steph , I thought Remy's link up play was quality , he brought players into play well, if there is one criticism its that he probably isnt clinical enough , but he showed enough , i thought , to suggest he will be a big player for you next season.

Good luck to you for the rest of the season, weve had 3 good , close encounters this season.

Only joking Trenks thought you had a decent game mate, as you always seem to do against us, all the best for the run in mate.

Steph, one day I will definatly stand with you for 90 mins, I thought the game, not just the Town, was poor.
The first half was brought to life after a really sweet move with May, Remy & Healy which the keeper saved, after that the whole affair was dull, sloppy passing, lack of effort (with the exception of Healy) and a lack of enthusiasm.

I do agree with you regard Ellis Remy though, to me he appeared to not be 100% fit & looked tired after 30 mins, he is a quality striker & on his day is without doubt probaly one of the best at this level.

Fecking hell, relief that I read a constructive and neutral view thats in line with many of my comments. I'll book out the priory/psychiatrics now unless some posters feel Onebreast should join me.

Onebreast-What some of our supporters do not realise is that we have a good half dozen quality players, of which you mentioned 3-4 of them, that if your a footy lover you'd go and watch and admire the technique of May, Edgar, Mckie just to mention 3. Just like Onebreast mentioned adding a couple (which is diplomatic) more like 5-6 more quality players to the squad and welcome back Jones, Wild and we should have a decent challenge next season.

But like i've mentioned, it's not gonna happen unless off field matters are resolved.

Don't keep blaming off field matters. What MATTERS is the quality of players brought in by the management and how the management then get them to play and perform.

In recent months we do seem to have got a nucleus of a decent team, with the likes of May.McKie,Wild, jones (and a few others)being of the sort of quality that could challange up the top of the Ryman1,BUT even so the results fail to match the potential or your optimism. Its still One win,one draw, one defeat football. In other words continued mid-table form.We need to put a run in of about 4 wins on the trot as the season comes to a conclusion to convince me we can challange for promotion next term.

Concord 2-1
East Thurrock 2-2
Ware 3-1
Aveley 0-1
Cheshunt 1-0
Potters Bar 3-1

4 wins and a draw out of 6 with a 1-0 defeat away to one of the title favouries and tyhe draew against the other.

Seems close enough to your target to me.

Gazza rightly highlighting the last six games.

The fact that can't be manipulated so far is this.

League 2008/2009: Won 15 Lost 16..A continuing average of win one, lose one.We have been mid table and with that sort of ratio for far too long this campaign.

But you've identified a nucleous if kept together. Now read this carefully, this nucleous will not remain unless OFF field matters are not resolved. Cos if you were a good player would you want to be stuck in the middle of such sh1te thats going on, bearing in mind the alledged comments which have been made.
