Romford,at it again!!!

Recommended Posts

It has been bought to my attention tonight that in Tuesdays Under 18 game between Romford Fc v AFC Hornchurch at the bridge the usual Romford bad tricks occured.

The romford manager asked our manager if he had sorted out a referee for the game, our manager said they could get Mr lendon,a local referee, romford objected and said thy would get their own referee. We said ok as long as he was affiliated to the eastern alliance association.

Anyway,it turns out that the referee they got used to be the romford manager and the linesmans dad was in charge of the Romford Under18's at the start of the season.

What follows almost sounds farcical.

Romford score the opener on about 28 minutes from a blatant push in the back from their player, referee and linesman both miss it,then follows some blatant timewasting from romford players which after protests from the hornchurch bench the referee ignores.

Hornchurch go 2-1 up 2nd half and decide not to rush the ball back into play like romford had done earlier.Straight away the referee puts a stop to this.

Romford win the game 3-2 in injury time after the referee plays for 8 minutes over the 90 (basically till romford score, then blows whistle)

Two hornchurch players after the game protested to the referee and got sent off.

I believe the club have wrote to the league regarding this blatant example of bad sportsmanship,at one point the manager thought of taking the players off the pitch such was the blatant attempt by romford of wining at all costs.

In a conferance youth match this week i had a player sent off for appealing against a deliberate hand ball.I dont mean appealing with bad language or appealing after it had not been given i mean shouting out `Handball ref`.I am not commenting on your game as i did not see it but. This was after a linsman gave a penalty after the ref gave a free kick outside the box.Nothing odd you say,but the linesman was up the other end of the pitch waving his flag.85-90 yards away.

I don't happen to think that it's good form to accuse match officials of being biased because of some perceived connections with one of the teams involved.

But thanks for drawing this thread to my attention on the Boro forum in the first place UM.

By the way I was there and so am able to draw my own conclusions on the events of the evening.

Doubt this is all accurate but if it is you deserve it because you kicked our keeper in the first place!

It could have been worse, he could have also been our groundsman (if we had a ground)

so appointing officials who A) used to manage romford, B) one of the officials dad was managing the under 18's team at start of season and c) which i forgot to add in original post, having a match official who is in charge of romford ladies at the moment is common practice at games nowadays........I don't think so!!

I am sure the romford team talk goes something like this

"right you lot,we fckng hate hornchurch because A) they are better than us B) because we were rude and obnoxious when we groundshared with them last time and they wouldn't tolerate it C)because our goalkeeper got hurt going for a 50/50 ball D) because we fielded an inellegibale player in a cup semi final and didn't get away with it E) because the ryman league wouldn't allow us to groundshare with them F) because one of our players got the prestigious award of goal of the month after putting through his own goal when they tonked us at fords in the ESL but don't worry,we have brought our own officials so you can't possibly lose, and if by some freak of nature we are not winning after 90 minutes the officials will make sure we play till we score.
