E.C.F.A. SEEK NEW COMMUNITY FOOTBALL COACH

Essex County Football Association Development Manager, Brendan Walshe, is inviting applications for an exciting Community Coach vacancy as the hunt is on to appoint an experienced football coach who can deliver initiatives focussing on girls' football and creating School-Club Links.

The E.C.F.A. are on the lookout for a coach who will be responsible for facilitating development initiatives by planning, delivering and monitoring coaching sessions in a variety of settings throughout the County. Brendan explained: "Early interest in the job has been excellent and there is always a good reply for coaching positions because so many people want a career in this field. This role is a perfect opportunity for someone to get their first professional post as a coach, perhaps after coaching voluntarily or on a casual basis in the past. I'm hopeful that we will have an excellent batch of candidates."

The newcomer will be required to develop initiatives in priority areas identified by the County's Football Development Officers (F.D.O.s) and by liaising with key partners such as partnership development managers, school sports coordinators and primary link teachers. Amongst their additional responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to help develop female football by delivering coaching sessions in schools and community settings, working with the Education F.D.O. to offer schools the chance to expand links with local clubs and cooperating with the Inclusion F.D.O. to extend the number of 'Soccability' teams, whilst also supporting existing clubs within the County.

Running and supporting development festivals, tournaments and events will also be key tasks for the Community Coach, as will providing FA Charter Standard Clubs with in-service sessions. This role is part-funded by Sport England and the eventual post holder will be required to monitor sessions and provide quarterly reports to both The FA and Sport England. Brendan concluded: "This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious coach to show what they can do on their way up the coaching pathway. Full-time coaching opportunities are few and far between and this role will enable a coach to develop their skills working with a variety of ages in a number of different settings. The FA's Professional Development Programme is excellent and will provide the successful candidate with opportunities to enhance their skills."

A full job description and personal specification can be found below, while further information on the role can also be obtained through Brendan on (01245) 393075 or via E-Mail at brendan.walshe@essexfa.com. Applications, in the form of a covering letter accompanied by a current C.V., should be submitted to: The County Development Manager, Essex County Football Association, The County Office, Springfield Lyons Approach, Springfield, Chelmsford, Essex, CM2 5LB or through the aforementioned E-Mail Address. The closing date for applications is Friday 10th April 2009 and interviews will be held during the week commencing Monday 20th April.
