With that, a copper who had seen me kick him, ran over to me and was about to do me for assault until we explained what had happended. To my amazement he just said sorry mate, you should have kicked him harder!!!
yeah of course you did grin If you did you'd be eating hospital food for a few days .

Why do you doubt what I've said? Most of the numpties I saw that day were chinless, lentil munching, scruffbags.

The individual in question was so please with himself and looking at his mates to see if he was getting their nod of approval, he didn't see me coming, until it was too late.

Would I have done it if he had been a 6'4" unit? Who knows? I didn't wait for him to stand up and he didn't hang around to check me out!!!

For your information, I was at Wapping in the 80's during the Sun Print workers dispute (As a Trade Unionist supporting my sacked brother-in-law) and have felt the full force of a police baton accross my shoulder. I hate the SPG but am a defender of the old fashioned Bobby.
Whatever you say nobby , Whatever you say .

Mental, the geezer's a prize plum!!

He is a professional protester, "Have placard, will travel"!!!

Any opportunity to rebel against the establishment and whilst doing so, misses the real targets. He's just too thick to see it.

Nah, I'm more of a Corrie fan. I've done my fair share of protesting in my time and have been on more picket lines than Arthur Scargill. I just didn't treat it as a vocation.

Why aren't you still down Parliament Square supporting the Tamils? Or is just Bankers and Airport Expansionists that warrant your ire. The bankers aren't the problem, it's the fecking useless government and politicians, both past and present, that have let the bankers get away with it, with no accountability or control.

Let's not make this a battle of wits MFM, you're clearly unarmed.

Power to the people!!!

BTW, you mentioned Blair Peach earlier in this thread, you said.

"Its always the same mate !! Remember Blair Peach , I was at that Anti Apartheid Demo when he got his (Although I didnt witness it ) The old bill look after their own mate. And thats a fact".

I remember his "murder" well (30th annivesary yesterday I believe). Firstly, it was not an Anti-Apartied demo, it was an Anti-Nazi demo, against the BNP who were electioneering in Southall Town Hall.

I was living in the East End at the time and was a Labour activist and Labour Party member (Bethnal Green & Stepney).

I remember when his body was returned to the East End from the Dominion Theatre in Southall and stood on the corner of Brick Lane with a fellow Labourite and councillor called Beattie Orwell as his coffin went by.

If you were there, (Unlike you I've no reason to doubt your word like you did mine, which has caused this toing and froing) then you must know some of the same people I do/did.

Keep fighting the good fight, just try not to piss off possible sympathisers like myself along the way by calling them liars.

In actual fact I am opposed to the Indian Government supporting the tamil tigers which is what the demo is about of course there are those there that support the tamils . Its at waterloo bridge not parliament square .

I have been at the Indian commission for three days even sitting in the road stopping traffic . A great demo and full of Incident and risked arrest .

I stand corrected at Blair Peach , I have done so many demo's I just cant remember all of them by detail .

MMMMmmmmm done some picketing have you , I did Grunwick , and 50 or so times for the miners not to mention many freezing days and nights at Greenham common which is probably the cause of my arthritis and sciatica, I know several of the old socialist crew but not beatie orwell but the name rings a bell . Ask her if she knows Kev Connor .

I don't think Beattie is still alive. Her husband John was the Labour Mayor of Bethnal Green & Stepney during the 70's, he has a Sports Centre named after him in Wapping.

I haven't been anywhere near as active as you, most of my activities were based more about Trade Union disputes than say CND or Human Rights violations.

I slipped out of the loop when I moved away from the East End and they closed the Labour HQ in Bethnal Green.

Did you ever come across a "Charlie Goodman"? He was a staunch communist and fought for the International Brigade during the Spanish Civil War. Must be in his 90s now, if still alive. What a character with great stories.
