INJURY PROBLEMS

Much has been made this season of disruption to the team caused by injury, and it cannot be denied that we have had an extraordinary number of problems.

Nobody has explained however why this should be. Having supported the club for over 15 years now it seems to me that this season ( and to some extent last) has been dominated by this problem. Sure , over the years we have had some serious long term injuries but normally only one or two at a time.

Is it because our training schedules are not good enough, or perhaps because players are a bit more protected these days and are withdrawn at the slightest knock?

Are the games tougher? (not judging by the Ryman rubbish served up this year) Or are the players getting a bit like the pros in the Premier and not prepared to play unless in 100% mint condition.

This is not meant as a criticism in any way but if the main reason for our poor season is due to injuries rather than inadequate players then what are we doing to address it? It seems as though training and control of injury must be as important as tactics etc.

How many players did we have standing on the touchline last night because of injuries. There must be a problem with our training for this to happen.I can appreciate that a player getting injured during a match but most of these injuries are muscle related.I seem to remember that West Ham had a simialer problem last year and it was mentioned in the press that the training methods were causing this

There was actually a really strong squad watching from the sidelines last night.

The growing injured player list might be a symptom of playing Saturday and Tuesday games for the past few months, with not much opportunity for training or recovery between competitive games.
