Braintree Town Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Robbie Garvey as First Team Manager. Robbie will take over the role with immediate effect and will be introduced to the players tonight (Thursday). Robbie is well known around the Essex area having played for a number of senior clubs before moving into coaching and management. He began his coaching career at Thurrock and now has a UEFA level 3B coaching licence. Robbie moved on to Dagenham & Redbridge in 2003 under both Garry Hill and, until this week, was as assistant manager to John Still. Club Chairman Lee Harding was pleased with the appointment: "Robbie has played an important part in bringing success under both Garry Hill and John Still at Dagenham & Redbridge, managers we both respect and admire. All of the board have been very impressed with Robbie's plans for our Club and his obvious enthusiasm and desire for the job. Next season, Robbie will have a blank canvas to work with and will be able to use our last six matches of the season to decide which of our existing players are offered terms for next season."

Robbie Garvey said: "The opportunity to manage Braintree Town was one I felt too good to turn down at this point in my career, even though it means giving up my full time position working for Dagenham & Redbridge. The chance to come in and take over for the last six games gives me the chance to see the players face to face and for them to show me they are the future of Braintree Town and not the past. I've had an opportunity to watch a couple of the last homes games and it has been noticeable the lack of confidence, enthusiasm and required energy levels which sometimes come from uncertainty. I'd like to thank the Chairman and the Board for giving me this opportunity to take the Club forward and sharing my ideas, beliefs and my plans for the future for Braintree Town FC."
