Truro Match Report

It seems as if windsor would of won 5-0 if it had not of been for the referee and linesman.

The last goal which was over a foot out of play was virtually the last kick of the game so fortunately did not affect the result.

Truro hit the crossbar twice and the windsor goalkeeper made some good saves, far more than at the other end.

As for the 2nd sending off, when on a caution is it a good idea to help a player up by the scruff of the neck or next time will he pull him up by his hand.

Windsor benefited from a re-taken penalty and the Windsor manager admitted in the bar afterwards Truro had a better claim for a penalty in the first half which was not given.

Also a crowd bigger than Accrington Stanley in league 2 managed, 500 more than anything eles in the league this season and about 400 above what was expected resulted in the delay to kick off.

The ref was poor but the best team won.

p.s can the number 6 come back and repair the dug out he damaged

WR- I think it could of been a draw if it was not for the ref. The sendings off,the penaltys are not the main reason i am unhappy with him!! He ruined what could of been a very speical game

How can you say it didn't affect the result?? Windsor would have had a throw on inside the Truro half with a couple of minutes still on the clock. If Truro had time to score a goal Windsor certainly did too.

TreyewRoad, no one is saying that if it had not been for the ref we would have won 5-0. We are just hacked off with the completely stupid decisions.

Have to disagree. As already said, with the position where the ball went out a quick throw could have got us in a good position and possibly level if scored.

You are correct, no one has disputed that.

Have to be honest and say that no one on both benches actually saw what happened so can only take your word for it.

Again correct, still not sure why he retook it as I didn't see the keeper move.

Have to agree, but it would have been a bit more interesting had he and his assistants not made the glaring [****!!****]-ups that they did.

Not aware that anyone caused any damage.

Having not heard the local radio report I cannot say if my written report describes every point the same.

The thing with football is that it is all about opinions and judging by the comments from both benches they were both in agreement that the ref ruined the game for everyone. The Truro bench even tried to tell the ref that the ball had gone out.

Right now i'm miffed ... Does anyone have an email address for the southern league?

If you read my match opinion on the other thread I said that yes truro on the balance of it deserved to win and deliberately steered away from saying there was any bias from the officials which i do believe, but as you say malc the standard of them was shocking (and that runs both ways for us and truro poor calls on both sides). The fact is I really enjoyed the day out at Truro both fans and officials (club) were friendly and very welcoming good food, good beer and I would definately make the trip again.

However To ask you to take down a match report (whether or not I agree with it is academic). What it is, is down right insulting.

I want to mail the southern league to ask them:

1) how they justify sending such and atrocious ref to a top of the table clash? Surely a potentially championship deciding game should get the attention of thier most senior officials. Travel should NOT be a consideration as it isn't for us fans or players.

2) when these officials were last assesed?

3) what right do they have to over rule the Human Rights Act of 1998 which states very clearly that we have freedom of thought, conscience and religion, freedom to express our beliefs

and the freedom of expression.

Amongst many others. As I said all along well done to truro they played well are a quality team and thier strikers looked the dangerous all night. I would say probably the best team we have played this season and that includes the conference south sides. But that still doesn't stop me being annoyed at the standard of the officials. That is no reflection on Truro what so ever we all play the cards we are dealt.

Sorry for the rant!

May I just add that most reports by the fans who went, including mine, state that Windsor lost it in the first half by not turning up, however a few things were out of order. With Windsor ready to play at 7.45 the game is magically moved to 8.00 upsetting the Windsor team. Not acceptable as I doubt there was any health and safety aspect. The referee and linesmen were abysmal and the reaction of the truro players to what a "normal" foul was disgraceful and intimidated the ref, with a 1,000 plus fans calling for blood he booked a player for what would normally just be a free kick. The penalty decision was awful, I wasn't down that end but the truro fans i chatted to agreed it was poor. By contrast he apparently missed a very clear penalty down that end a few minutes earlier. I guess that evened it out but shows how inconsistent and poor he was. We know in the cold light of day Truro deserved to win, but as previously stated, when you go to a big game like this you need strong and experienced refs because you know the home side will have the upper hand, and with a big crowd a ref who has only done this level league games can be easily drawn into inaccurate decisions. Also by putting a local ref in they open themselves up to accusations of favouritism. It was interesting that one of the Truro fans I chatted to felt that normally they try to favour the away teams so as to compensate. Having seen refs at this level for many many years I wouldn't dispute that, but i guess if you win (and you do a lot) you don't feel the need to complain.

Out of interest, would you Truro fans be happy to have this ref week in week out performing like that? Do you get him a lot because he is local? Did you think his performance was acceptable?

Yes we are angry, but it is our right to be. Yes our opinions are biased, but whose aren't? The second half was a cracking game of football, but with ten men and two down the outcome was always likely.

I would like to wish Truro good luck for the season (not too much though eh?) and I am sure with their money and set up they will soon be conference bound. I hope the reality lives up to the dream. Windsor will never be a conference club, and i am not sure I am upset about that, i like the fact I know all the fans who go there, that we can all meet up for a drink and when we got to similar clubs it is always friendly and welcoming.

And Joel, we haven't had freedom of speech for many years, if it isn't PC or fits into an agreed framework of acceptable phrases, you can't say it. But that is a different story altogether.

Signing off, disappointed of Windsor.

I am calm now.........

The game was put back 15minutes not due to any 'conspiracy by the officials' but by a 1,119 attendance being well above the expected even for this clash. (and above Accringtons league 2 attendance). To suggest otherwise just shows you are prepared to look at anything with conspiracy and bitterness in mind. Are W&E so bad they cant cope with a 15minute delay the same delay Truro had to deal with.

with a 1,000 plus fans calling for blood he booked a player for what would normally just be a free kick

so all fans were vocal ?? most were quiet being fair weather fans

as for the ref being local so he would favour Truro is a joke, the most biased ref against Truro is from Falmouth (10miles away)

just as a man city ref would be in a game involving man utd so it is wrong to assume a ref from cornwall would be 'corrupt'

If you think this ref was bad you should of been at Bridgewater v Truro over christmas, he sent off 4 and booked virtually every other player despite not a bad tackle being made all game.

to answer previous points, on the balance of probabilities the ball out of play last goal did not affect the result as given the short time left if was unlikely a goal would of been scored.

Also would any W&E fan like to comment on their officials confronting the referee in his changing room after the game and what went on ??

Yes I would.

I was in the 'tunnel' after the match and not one member of the W&E team or staff entered the officials changing room after the game. In fact our manager had the door slammed in his face whilst the referee was asking his name.

Also I would ask why your stewards felt it necessary to get physical in the 'tunnel'. Our players had to push a steward away after he squared up to me as I was trying to past.

Obviously you are responding to rumour and hear say and weren't actually near the changing rooms other wise you waouldn;t be asking this question, so I would suggest that you stop posting things that never happened.
