Bridgwater vs Slough

In my humble opinion, one possible reason as to why we are playing so badly at the moment is that there has been so much talk in the media/on this web site etc of the players playing for their futures and that if they don't perform they will be shown the door either now or next season that most of the players have been convinced for a while now that they won't be here next season.

They have also seen a few Hemel players come in which has only convinced them that they have no future at the club.

Unfortunately this has come at the stage of the season when we are in desperate need of some points and the performances have hit rock bottom.

This is the only reason I can think of as to why so many of the players are performing so badly.

You lot make me sick at times. What did you expect to happen, bateman would come in and we would suddenly become the best team in the league. It doesnt happen like that, yeah we are playing badly and the team should be disgusted with themselves but im sure bateman is giving them a right bollocking.

Also remember due to the increased amount of games bateman has had very few training sessions.

As ive said before and ill say again yes sweetman should have stayed just to secure our status in the league but no bateman is here give him a break. He will come good if everyone stops expecting to much and is too quick to jump on his back.

It really is pathetic how much we expect

From what was said last night we seemed equal in play until we lost yash so yes its is confidence. When we played windsor and they went down to ten men they still made a game of it right up to the 90th minute because they had self belief and its easier when you are near the top.

Slagging off players/management is only going to add to the difficulties,i dont agree that the players dont care, nobody likes to get beat and get beaten by a large scoreline, they seem a decent bunch of lads who want to play but need lifting up at the moement. We seem lucky at slough in that given the last few years supporters havent generally given the players too much of a hard time unlike at many other clubs where they would get murdered with some of the results we have had.

Im hoping for a good atmosphere on saturday and cheer the team to do our part in giving them some confidence and belief. They are good players and im sure they will do better against paulton.

In some ways the current players are probably catching the backlash from the last 2 seasons. Supporters put up with a lot for the past 2seasons as we knew we were on a hiding to nothing, so there was singing even when we went 9-0 down to Wimbledon. We were often not competitive, we knew why, and supporters made the best of it.

This season, it isn't nearly as clear why, and it feels like a season too far. If the players can perform, and play well, I'm sure the support will follow, and for me thats the way it has to be. If the players heads drop when we go behind, so do the fans think "Here we go again". The players have only had one season of it, the fans have had 3, and for me, its taking its toll. It's nothing that a few wins wouldn't fix, but its up to the players to perform, not the fans.

Given the Chairman seems like quite a sensible chap I doubt he'll have given Steve Bateman an increased budget, with the season virtually over. With all these new faces arriving and relatively few heading out of the door, one wonders if the incumbant squad players have seen their wages lowered. That would be one possible explanation for the complete lack of morale and fight

I agree with Mark. I'm sure Bateman will come good with time but we should never have changed manager when there was still something to play for this season(not being relegated). If we do get relegated Steve Easterbrook must hold some responsibility. I've always thought Steve is a sensible chap but this decision must raise some eyebrows. Many people didn't give Sweetman a chance so I can understand why others are now moaning about Bateman. I actually believe managers need plenty of time to become successful and 1 season is not enough. Fans expect instant success but this very rarely happens.

we deffo played better at Bridgewater and should have been in the lead at half time..but looking at the final score you would have never thought so..

platt missed from 3 yards

yash hit the bar and bounce down ..not over the line

harper had a goal disallowed for off side..this was all in the first 20 mins..then yash got sent off..

then the double wammie ..and heads dropped ...

Kyle Lucas made his debut from the youth team at right back and did really well...considering...

chris sliski

a fan at Bridgewater !

It is basically like what happened with the Totton game, we played so well in the first half, probably as good as we have played all season, but as soon as they caught us with a couple of goals the heads dropped a bit and they scored some more. However we did not give up and kept trying to play, and pulled one back.

Bateman isn't going to work miracles given what has happened this season. It has been said before, let's just write off this season and look to next season. I'm sure Bateman and the squad will do enough to keep us up, and then he can work with a clean slate to put together his squad.
