Heybridge 2 Billericay 2

I thought we looked jaded. Perhaps that's to be expected with the match schedule we've ended up with. Inexperienced bench didn't help matters. No Adrian Dean yet? Shavesy had a good one, again.

I dont think it has anything to do with an in-experienced bench as it seems the youngsters want to work harder and battle more than the "senior" players in the team. Heybridge were poor but they work hard for each other and grind teams down. They dont play good football or have good individuals, they just work hard and make it hard for other team to get into there rhythm!

I think the word relegation has to be used. If you were a neutral last night you would say Billercay were the team bottom of the table. We were pretty awful to be honest, no belief, no intensity and no heart bar Paul Shave.

Considering not bothering going to Margate on Saturday now as I am getting pretty fed up of these gutless performances!

There is a serious motivation problem in the squad if we can only seem to get ourselves up for games like Dover!

8 games to go.

5 of them against teams in and around the relegation zone (Margate, Harlow, Ashford, Heybridge, Boreham Wood)

2 against teams in the play off positions (Tonbridge & Carshalton)

1 against a team currently mid table (Maidstone)

Its squeaky bum time!

Up until we scored and after we equalised it was okay. In between it was awful and we let a team who had lost seven on the trot dominate, with us looking like the team rooted to the bottom of the table.

Poor defending for both their goals, Tucker making a great save just before the first ended up in the net.

After the equaliser we had chances to win it but that would have been harsh on Swifts imo.

I agree Shave had a decent game but that was about it.

The positives for me were:

Shaves had another good game and for me was our motm.

Some of Hodge's play was awesome but restricted by their defence.

Joe Flack again ran his socks off.

The negatives:

The lights stayed on.

They did not believe i was Rik

This was the most expensive game of the season for the fan's and yet again we got done by what we used to call a lesser team.

The team seem to be crying out for some leadership which Big Dunc normally tries to do.

Last night during the 2nd half the young kid in front of me rallied the team more than the bench did. (that's my opinion anyway) And leave your socks alone is not what i mean.

Team-wise gutless is not a word i would use for anyone playing (on the pitch) last night i think each and everyone of them went out to win but just lacked that leadership bit.

Two p1ss poor sides serving up a p1ss poor game of football shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. If Shave was MOTM then that should tell you how bad it was. The ever dwindling support appears to have had the enthusiasm battered out of them. I wouldn't back us to beat Hannakins.

Do we scout other teams? The reason I ask is that I knew the Bourne brothers both played for Swifts and have been occupying their left side for the previous few games. I also know they are both very pacey. So why did we employ a right side of Marron and Hodges two of our slowest players and leave Alaile on the bench, possibly our quickest player?

Anyway, another shocking performance, Shave gets MOTM for me as at least he looked like he cared, and the Zizou-esque turn for the first goal was class.

Onto Margate and another 6 pointer.

Up til the first goal I was really impressed with our play - good passing, good movement. Goals conceded either side of half time (there seems to be a pattern of conceding goals between 40-50 minutes) was a major blow and possibly a sign of lack of concentration for the full 90 minutes. From then on I think we lost our composure and frustration and indiscipline started to creep in. Good to see that we didn't give up tho to get the equaliser scrambled in, and very nearly a winner.

We do seem to struggle most against teams who, on paper, we should easily beat. Thought Heybridge and their fans had a great attitude considering their recent run of form and their position in the table. Good turnout from Blues fans last night too!

PS I had a stroke of luck - found a fiver in the car park on the way out, so I was effectively paid

Is the tactics - Score a goal then stoop down to the opposing teams level? Or Hoof the ball and hope that Flack gets it instead of the 6ft defenders?

1 point is not enough, yes we are a point better, but not enough.

Poor performance, Shave MOTM, being involved with both goals.

No inspiration or communication from managers, and if they did whisper something then it was too late.

Did we deserve a point? Maybe. But we were lucky and looked like the bottom of the table side.. Not Heybridge.

3 points from relegation, if we get nothing on Saturday, then we are definately in the mix of it. Well.. We are in the mix now.. But if the worst happens on Saturday... We could be on level points with the team taking the last relegation spot.

while i thought saturday was a quality game of football and a great advert for ryman league football, last night was quite the opposite. two poor teams, serving up a dismal game of football.

our own fans were taking the piss out of the team, and we were being mocked by fans of a team doomed to relegation. not undeservingly so either.

a very depressing time to be supporting this club. what few fans are left have to get behind the team for a relegation scrap now.

Well I'm sorry I started the thread now ! Sounds a poor game. So why hasn't Adrian Deane played yet. We get all this fanfare of new players, crowd favourites returning and ....nothing happens. Seem to remember the same with Richard Ketchell, going to be our saviour at centre half but he came and went without even being seen.

Come on lads, I know we don't want to be in Ryman Premier but we are heading in the wrong direction.Be positive surely around 8 points from those 8 games must be enough.

It's hard to be positive Richards. I would say your rights, 8 points from the next 8 games should be enough..

But saying it, and doing it are 2 different things. With out team at the moment, who knows when we will get points and when we won't.

I went last night and enjoyed the evening. Billericay were the most dominant and played the hardest to get a result. Heybridge tried, but could not stay with the blues in the final 20 mins and this lead to Shave's goal. Then there were two golden chances to win this, one from a header, and one from a missed shot by Hodges on a near open Goal.

I can understand fully the fans frustration, but standing at the away end for the second half, I find taking the P*** out of your bench rather unacceptable. At a time like this that the last thing they need to hear. Do that stuff on here.

It was a derby at the end of the day and anything can happen?

Must agree with Localfan, I don't really understand the logic behind having a go at your own players or bench in the last 15 mins of a game that your team are trying to win. If I was on the pitch, I'm not sure that's the sort of thing that would help my performance.

Roll on Saturday - I'm still waiting for us to give someone that promised thumping!

There is actually no logic behind it at any time, but fortunately it's not a game of logic. I've always thought that Chess is a lousy spectator sport.

It's a game of passion and emotions that occasionally overspill; both for players & spectators. Both will sometimes react in ways they later regret.

Players & management need the mental strength and self-belief to cope with, or laugh off, the excesses of spectator critiscism.

It's not suprising that a Chelmsford supporter suggests that that fans should "do that stuff on here". Have you read the critiscism directed at King & Pennyfather on their forum lately? Unbelievable.

I'd suggest that verbal comments made when things are going wrong on the pitch are easier to get over than a trial by internet that is recorded for posterity.

Of course, it would be better if we encouraged and praised all the time. But we all know life's not like tha.
