I can't believe some of the comments on Bateman already (mainly anon's trying to stirr it must be said) but afew people need to wake up and look at facts:

1) All but three of last nights players are Sweetman's players

2) This is (as far as I can tell) Iwediuno's first game at this level. I thought he did OK for his full-debut. Must have been nervous and is lacking any match practice and he does not know the players. Give him a chance for goodness sake. He's also very young.

3) Steve Sinclair & Robbie Kean have not played much this season and it's not easy to get to know your team mates after a couple of games in a new environment. They need to get to know the players and runs they make etc.. That takes TIME

4) The most important thing. These are essentially Sweetman's players. For once I agree with Wiz actually. Bateman should only be judged come next season. He'll have time to bring in his own players, and get rid of those he does not want which will probably be most of them going by last nights showing.

5) Bateman's had about 5 training sessions. He's not a miracle worker. As I said before there's a losing mentality at this football club and he needs time to bring in his own players and keep the ones who he wants to get us winning again.

6) We just need to somehow cobble together six points, write this season off and start afresh next season. Some players need to play for a bit of pride and show why they were brought to this football club in the first place. If they want to stay for next season they need to fight and show it on the pitch.

Can some people please get real?

Last night was awful yes, exactly why i said sweetman should have been given longer just because of the inflow of players needing time.

However bateman has been chosen to do a job and i still believe he is good enough, just give him time.

As ive said before everyone mentions keith scott as a good manager but he had a couple of poor seasons building for now.

Nathan.

Of course there was a reason sweets got the job over me.Silly silly boy-I never applied for the job, mainly as I don't do management anymore.

Didnt post last night as i thought id try to work out what happened.

I cant.

Platt ran his socks off for no reward. Yash for me should ALWAYS start. If it mean pissing around with the formation so be it.

Thought Harper and Evans looked ok and Platt too. But there was no passion. Lettign the ball go past you... not throwing yourself at one in the 6 yard box??

Personally i agree with the timing of the management change, give Bates a chance to mold HIS squad. Only worry for me was how some players got away with not being SCREAMED at from the dugout for large chunks of the game.

I think we have some talented players and if they all give 100% and know exactly what they are supposed to be doing tactically we would be doing far better than last night. We have a solid centre back partnership. Sinclair looks good down the side and we have 2 very nippy strikers and last years top goalscorer for gods sake.

I honestly dont know how we played so badly. It was pretty much the team i would have said was our best in the circumstances (except i would have had Yash on- prob at left wing)

Now after reading the above..what a load of tosh ...

Cant beleive the comments ..like sweets should have stayed ..90% of you were all asking when and where is the change going to be made ...now after five games we are again asking the same...

Cant you remember the dreadful games in the past ?

uxbridge away ! windsor away ! thatcham away ! twice ...

and proberly the worse was at North Leigh 6 - 1

I have to agree with most of what Chris Boxell has stated..

Steve Bateman will sort it ...for those who went to Bishop's cleeve and those who saw the first half at Totton will agree this was a best all round display that we have shown ..all season...the best football ...

we really need to get behind the new manager ..everything takes time...

People need to have some realism... clubs been on the slide last 2 years relegared.. Sweets comes in and you have to admit steadied the ship as ok some/ a fair few of the performaces were poor BUT imo we would not have got relegated which for me is a positive step as it gives us aplatform then to build, that would then i agree would not have been with sweets but as chris says we need to get behind the team, we didnt in sweets time late on we all just moaned as our expectations were too high! we wont get relegated this season, which is the best we have done in a while! so we all need to stop singling out individuals, certain games as being bad and lets take one step at a time! the manager has been changed ok i agree at the wrong time but mr Chairman has made the decision, mr bateman is now in charge a lot of upheaval and has shown in results and performances so far, so excuses aside like not enough training etc we ALL need to stop moaning like school kids and get behind who ever is in charge! its getting boring reading post after post of this aint right etc! step 1 - dont get relegated step 2 overhaul the squad - step 3 good pre season get some optimism BUT NOT SET TOO HIGHER EXPECTATIONS!!!!! its a long project to get slough back to where we should be its not going to happen soon... next seaon needs to be an improvement on this, then the following a further improvement etc etc so come on the rebels!!! ill be looking for the updates tonight!! speach over and soap box back in the cupboard!!

ok this is probably an odd thing to say and I'm sure I'll get stick from my Windsor mates (as a Windsor fan) but I was really hoping both Windsor and Slough would get promoted this season (windsor winning of course slough through the play offs)!

But my reason being is there is nothing in the league like a derby day. As you proved this season the form guide goes out the window and its like a cup final day in atmosphere.

To get that twice a season for me is a great thing. So I really hope you can turn your form around.

I would have to say from a Windsor point of view and experience it takes a while to get it right. We got it wrong with Lane and then right with Scott. Although the last few weeks have been tough. If you give it time and accept this then it may work. A knee jerk reaction is a very dangerous thing. The players will change, the tactics will change and slowly you will see a team develop and success will come. We have had to wait an awful long time for this success, I would be surprised if you have to wait as long. Once the right person is in, it will be good.

Maybe the fans do put too much expectation on the shoulders of the management. There are an awful lot of good players and teams at this level, as slough have proved any team can match any team (you beat us, drew with Truro and Totton, the top three!!)so winning the league or even getting promotion is difficult.

Good luck for the rest of the season and no offence, but I would rather not have a derby with you next year, maybe the year after though ;-)
