Tom, It doesn't need training sessions to gel with the back 4 to show that you are a decent player with ability on the ball etc.

On the point of Ryan Fenton, I think he has been one of our best and most consistant players this season and if Bateman has dropped him purely on the basis that he has had one bad game then I think that is a pretty poor decision.

IMO play was fairly even, with both teams finding it difficult to control the ball on a bouncy pitch and but for individual errors there would have been only one goal in it.

That was without doubt the worst performance of the season. We made Burnham, a poor side, look good. We need a shake up in all departments, and if those current players dont want to play with more passion and committment, get rid of them. I am sick of losing to village teams like Burnham and North Leigh. Also, i had four neutral friends with me last night who i doubt will bother to watch

Slough in the near future after witnessing that tripe.

I hope everyone who was calling for Sweetman's head is happy. Can't believe we changed manager at this stage of the season again. A new manager is always going to bring in new players who need time to settle and we don't have that. Everyone is saying we are performing worse now than with Sweets. I bet Sweets, Steve and Calvin are laughing at us now!

The only reason sweets etc would be laughing at us is that they GOT AWAY with it for so long.Obviously "sweets" hand picked players have no bottle for a game that they find themselves behind in.And unfortunately they realise that they won't be there next season( so aren't trying too hard )-Mr Bateman will probably get a complete new set of players in.
And Nathan as you love sweets so much, keep your eye on sunday park football,he may get a job there if a team is desperate enough !!Neither of you know much about the game.

Feel utterly deflated.

The lack of consistency in the team is entirely down to poor leadership from the management, we should never have lost against a team like THATCHAM-mind you we have lost to poorer sides this season, as it seems unlikely that anyone has the will power to sack em and get in some one proven as a manager, the best we can hope for is avoiding relagation now.

Would not surprise me that Harper was left out-because of all the complaints last week about him getting sent off and letting the team down. And when this was explained to the management they thought they had better do something to keep the fans happy-which in itself shows poor management quality-its not the first time he has made decisions based on whats been pointed out to him on here!

Are we now seeing why Hemel let Mr Bateman go. After all, since he left they've climbed up to third in the table. Not impressed with the quality of some of the new players either. Robbie Kean is just like Pritchard - looks the part but sends 90% of his passes straight to the opposition.

Interested, neutral bystander last night - without any question the worst game of football (trade description act beckons!) I have seen this season. If it were not for the three dire teams at the foot of the table I would put Burnham as the worst team I have seen in that division this season and you made them look good! The one obvious thing is there is no hunger or passion or desire in most of your side, how or if Bateman & co can generate that remains to be seen. I can only assume Roy Gumbs is injured/unfit because despite his advancing years you were crying out for someone up front to charge around and play with his heart on his sleeve!

worried what game you were at 1st & 2nd goals IMO down to lack of understanding between defence and Jackson, they didn't appear to know if he was coming off his line to collect the ball 1st Smith in the end retrieved his own pass but had no alternative than to lump it 2nd Evans appeared to hold up Spence for Jackson to come and he still stayed rooted 3rd goal well what do you say

And another thing, i really dont think some of our players, whether chosen by Sweetman or Bateman are up to this standard of football.

I dont know if its fitness, motivation or lack of skill at this level, but we are certainly lacking in all areas, needs to be

addressed before we end up fighting it out with Bracknell and

Winchester

STEVE Bateman was left upset and confused by Slough Town's defending in their 3-0 defeat at Burnham on Tuesday evening.

Errors cost the visitors and as soon as Richard Witt put The Blues in front it looked all over as Leon Yarnie added two more.

At Bishops Cleave-whilst excepting that they are not a very good side-Slough seemed to be all pulling together and the two new signings showed their worth-even Bubb was trying for the entire match! For some reason since then its been a shambles-whether its because the " hand picked " sweets players are now anti Slough or as i said early they see no future for themselves at this level under new management.I personally would not judge Mr Bateman until next season-at least he can say he has played at a higher level than most of the " old " current crop of players.

I always thought that Sweetman was slightly unfairly treated in temrs of what the fans expected him to acheive, especially by you RWG, whom I remember calling for his head after only 2 games of the season.

I would have loved to see how you would have fared in the same situation as Sweetman towards the end of last season and the first 1/2 of this. There was a reason why he was manager and you weren't.

I have to agree with Nathan. I feel a lot has to be said for a number of people on this forum with regards to how Sweetman was treated on here - including myself. He did stress that promotion wasn't the aim and I think a lot of people expected more than what he wanted to achieve this year before pushing on.

As such it comes as no surprise that people on here (anons in general) are already slating Bateman. I'd like to know where people expect these great players to come from at this point in the season and what he is supposed to achieve with such little hands on time with the squad since he has taken over.

He has brought in players to bolster the squad as it is short on numbers and these players haven't had a great deal of football this season where they were playing or time to settle in.

This season is a write-off - we just need to make sure we stay up and hope Steve Bateman can engineer a massive overhaul of the current squad in the summer. Like I said, players should be working hard to secure their futures, but we haven't seen much of that lately. Unless of course they want out already.

Let's not argue about Derek Sweetman again - the fact is that he had the best part of a season and it didn't work for him. That was the common consensus on here. The future is with Steve Bateman. Last night was crap but I'm sure we're staying up and would prefer to judge Steve Bateman next season.

I absolutely agree with this. The club has a losing mentality and I believe things like this can linger in a squad. This is another reason why Bateman needs to have a serious think about having a massive clear-out of the current squad IMO.

When you get a good team gelled together who are playing for each other and winning games, winning becomes a habit. The opposite has been happening to us ever since Eddie Denton left.
