Burnham

It's difficult to put into words just how bad that was tonight. It looks like quite a few of the players have given up on this season already, just when they should be playing for their futures - and we haven't yet guaranteed our place in this league for next season.

IMO only Sinclair and one or two others can emerge with any credit from tonight.

Outplayed and soundly beaten by what seemed to me to be quite a poor Burnham side. That speaks volumes for how bad we were.

I will not be sorry if threequarters of the regular side leave over the summer as they are clearly not good enough, whoever manages them.

That was quite possibly the worst game of football i have ever paid to watch. Neither team could keep the ball for more than 3 passes. When we did have the ball around their box there was noone to support the man in possesion, classic point for their 2nd goal, platt loses possesion by their penalty box as he had no slough player to pass to, they go straight up our end and score.

Couldnt get back to slough in time to watch the game so stopped by at afc hayes and saw a good game by two teams who played with passion and commitment.i heard the hayes players are mostly playing for nothing.

WR never made a prediction and the curse is still there. the only way its going to be broken is if he gets one right so come on WR get your thinking cap on.

That was dreadful.

We, of course ourselves have lots of problems. When we go a goal behind in matches we never look like getting back to equalise or go on to win.

It's nearly a year to the day (Newport IOW 12-04-2008) the last time we went a goal behind to then go ahead and win a game, which is appauling. There is a losing mentality at the football club over the past 3 seasons and it needs to change.

We've also let in the second most goals in the league now (76) just two less than AFC Hayes.

We just need to grind out two wins to make it absolutely sure of staying-up somehow.

A bit of credit to Burnham though even though it was a poor match. We hardly created a chance all night and Spence and Yarnie's pace up front caused us lots of problems and Paris and Bird were solid at the back.

totally agree

im quite disappointed that we looked a defeated team definitely as soon as it went 2-0. despite Glen Harris missing the penalty we did not use that to motivate ourselves into wanting to get back into it but nope there was little sign of any comeback. also we should have gone for it 2nd half sent Romeo on and maybe take the left back off and go maybe 3-4-3 in the hope of getting something still. no disrespect to Burnham intended but they would be honest im sure and say that they did not particularly play there best but the worst thing is they really did not need to

defensively we are a joke at the moment. if thats because the defenders and keeper are carrying an injury as suggested i would not be surprised

2nd goal was so preventable it is unreal

3rd goal was almost too unbelievable to believe what i was seeing

least the 1st goal was a great corner

not enough effort was seen imo from our midfield and attack with the exception of perhaps Sinclair and Platt

worries me the distinct lack of leadership on and off the pitch during the game at the moment also. confidence is obviously in tatters so the team needs leadership through the match. the players strolled out onto the pitch after half time with next to no sign of anyone shouting encouragement geeing up the team for a right good go at getting back into it which was always possible had we got our act together as burnham were there for the taking or at least a draw i thought

how on earth we are supposed to turn it around by thursday i have no clue. we just gotta make sure we dont end up losing thursday, saturday and tuesday and then we finally get another proper training session to further work on our multiple problems

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we go a goal behind at home to Cirencester only to go on and win 3-2? confused

Roger I agree! new manager has made things worse! 2 many new players brought in disjoined, no spirit in the team, speaking to a couple last night some players do not like the new management! in my opinion, we would not have got relegated with sweetman although a small minority did not like the performances but if we had not of improved over the season at the END then make way for a new manager when he can start from scratch and pre season.. Mr Chairman you got it very wrong this time! you have a ppointed a manager who to be fair looks about as bothered as some of the players!

I think there's no maybe about it. On that preformance our left back should not have been on the pitch. It was only after he made 4 dreadful errors on the bounce that he was taken off.

IMO only Sinclair, Rory Smith and Platt for his work rate can say they played reasonably well last night.

Overall play was pretty even, we just can't stop giving goals away.

Don't agree with any of that RR.

The left back has come in without any training sessions to gell with the back 4, and compared to Fenton's performance on Saturday who was directly responsible for 2 possibly 3 of Totton's goals I think he did very well. Smith on the other hand had a poor game, at fault for the build up of the 1st goal (along with Jacko) and was all over the place defensively.

Play was not even. We couldn't hold on to the ball and resorted to lumping the ball forward the majority of the first half.

And to the anon, I couldn't give a toss if the players don't like the management. If thats the basis of your decision to why they are playing like they are, then they obviously didn't like Sweets either.

Overall play (in terms of possession) was fairly even. However, Burnham had about 4 meaningful attacks throughout (and two of those came from serious defensive errors), scored from three of them, and looked far better, more organised and motivated than us from start to finish.

Enough said.

There were a lot of poor performances last night, and sadly for a local derby, little commitment or passion from many of our players. Sinclair was an obvious exception, having 2 players (sometimes 3) mark him whenever he was wide, and that should have created space for others. It didn't though. Burnham were poor, their distribution from the back was often comical, but somehow, we were worse.

Too many of the basics were missing, poor passing, poor crossing, and unforced errors. Its not a great time for a new manager to come in, but better he finds out now which players are worth keeping than to have to find out at the start of next season. On last nights showing, a lot of them should be moving on, and it is up to them to put in the displays that will make the manager want to keep them.

That is exactly the reason we should have stuck with Sweetman until the end of the season, and got someone else in bright and early afterwards for pre-season.

This is exactly what I feared would happen; new management, new players walk straight into first team without any time to gel into a working team playing to a specific system. Result: poor performances and results.

Even after poor performances under Sweetman, at no time did I think we were under serious threat of relegation. However, if things continue the way they are, then we may be in the thick of it in a few weeks time.
