Rumour

Bit of a rumour doing the rounds that Grays Athletic and Hornchurch could be in line to merge.

Its well documented that Mick Woodward and Grant Beglan are good friends but some have gone further to suggest that Mick is in line to join forces at Hornchurch and Yourthurrock.com even suggests Grant will be the next owner of Grays.

Have recieved information today that claims there is a plan to merge Grays and Hornchurch.

Any such gossip your side?

there's no smoke without fire...except for smoke machines...although i suppose thats just dry ice...

anyway, whether we merge or not, there's a strong possibility we'll be seeing each other next season if our respective form continues?

if mick is in line to join forces at hornchurch, i reckon the last thing he'd want to do is have a merger. doesn't he think you're all pr1cks or something?

anyway, best of luck with the rest of the season and the future.

well there is a bit of unrest down at the rec and i think this was nipped in the bud before any more unpleasantness was being dished out down their, the source was probably anti-woodward and wanted to stir things up a little morecool

If this is true I would strongly be against it.

1) We are Hornchurch, just Hornchurch and I dont want to merge with any team

2) We would lose a rival

  • 3 weeks later...

TTM Mr Beglan has been Chairman of Hornchurch for 2 seasons now

"so is now top dog" is not quite right !

Mick has stated that he is standing down at Grays in June.

Mr Beglan remains as owner of Hornchurch.

And as the guys on here will confirm has no day to day involvement with the club or attending games.

Im sure all will be revealed in the coming weeks, But any unfounded rumours are not good for any club !

yeah coz he has really done bad at grays,2 trophy wins, conference football, conf south title.

Perhaps the grays fans need to look a little closer to home to realise how good they have had it.

8'000 fans at upton park (i was there supporting woking),will never happen again!

700 at home for a must win game the other day, stick us in the conference and we would double it.
