Don't be silly Jenko, it's because Coachie had a full compliment, hadn't watered or sun-scorched the pitch. And i bet they had more than one match ball! whistle

FIVE!!!!!

Yes but a great win against a good London APSA side, why not touch on that rather than the attendance

The thing is Rhodes that non league football is, and always has been, as much about the quality of its support as to what happens on the pitch.

Crowds as small as the one yesterday just destroy the ethos of our version of the beautiful game!

TB&G - You can't say that small crowds destroy the ethos of the beautiful game at non league level, it's just as much to do with the way society sadly is today whereby people would rather go shopping on a Saturday afternoon, to the cinema, McDonalds or get their hair cut rather than take time out to go and support their local football team for ninety minutes. It's hardly Mauritius Sports or London APSA's fault that they are poorly supported, many other Club's are in the same boat at Step 5 and 6 level.

Anyway it's a well known fact that you can watch a game at Wadham Lodge from the upstairs bar window in the warm with a pint in your hand without having to go inside the stadium, Mauritius Sports only report spectators who pay yet the bar is packed solid with tight wads not wanting to part with their fiver.

I was going to say that one of the problems of support may be that people have generally tended to follow a geographical location ( town/village etc) with which they identify which may be part of the lack of support with teams like MSFC, LAPSA and SBFC.

Perhaps the folk at Mauritius are too soft with the freeloaders and should walk round the upstairs bar with a bucket and shame them into putting something in it if they are watching from the beginning rather than arriving there after playing on an outside pitch.

Or the other thing perhaps is to invest in a portable, rollable canvas screen on posts to put up outside the particular windows when they are playing and take down afterwards. grin
