Today v Maidstone

Wow,how frustrating was that!!

Not a classic by a long way but the team as a whole battled for everything.

Maidstone had 3 efforts 1st half but their finishing was woeful. Our goal scored direct from a free kick i.m.o though Kenny is claiming it with the very slightest of touches,if any at all.

Scrappy game with consistent fouls by both sides but mainly clumsy fouls.

Kenny one-on-one in the 1st half but first half keeper came out & smothered.

Second half Mullins hardly had a save to make.Don't think he had too many 1st half either.

Pratt skied a follow up from a 35 yard thunder bolt from Danny Stubbs that the keeper parried out.Kenny should have scored there.

Near the end,Peters,again,one-on-one rounded the keeper & had only to roll the ball into an empty net but took another touch which was poor. Could still have scored but hit it into side netting. Frustration, frustration, frustration.

Penalty against us never a penalty.Surely the law says it must be ball to hand but how can a player get out of the way from 2 yards.Ball definately hit hand & was never intentional. My guess is that the ref wanted to give the home crowd something to cheer about.Lets face it never in the rest of the game had they cause to smile or cheer.

A game we SHOULD have won,no doubts, but before the game I would have taken a point, however by being there to witness us lose out on all three in the way that we did when the victory should have been ours disappoints me immensely.

Peters needs to give the ball to others more often than he does, those that are in better positions & shouting for it. Peters feels he can do it all himself at times & that too is frustrating.Always one touch too many. When he does get a solo he fluffs it.Damn shame because he can & should be doing more than he is showing.

Maidstone very poor today. Never really a threat all game.A team lacking in confidence. Pinnock & Saunders never in it.

A point well deserved but the other two points were ours for the taking & it has to be two dropped today rather than one gained.Total commitment from everyone though and hey we're still in there fighting.

The law book states there is no such thing as ball to hand. Saying that, the penalty was indeed very harsh.

To be honest, I wouldn't have minded if you guys had got a winner in the end, our season has completely petered out and I like you lot and hope you stay up.

One final note to say well done to the four or five lads who never stopped singing for the whole game. Top top support.

Can only echo what others have said. By far the better team, should have won 4 or 5-1 to be honest: missed four gilt-edged chances. Ultimately, would have taken a point before the game but, after the game, was disappointed not to have all three. Thought the defence was superb yesterday, restricted Maidstone to virtually nothing all game, except a dodgy penalty.

Don't think anyone seems to have mentioned our strong penalty shout. At 1-0, Healy hauled down in the box; if it had been outside the box, the ref would have given a free-kick every day of the week; alas, he bottled it. But, we can't blame anyone else, we had the chances to win the game three times over.

Oh well, roll on next week, vital game, and if we play like we did yesterday, three points is definitely a possibility.

On a more personal note, thanks for the praise re: the vocal support; we do try and make it our aim to sound as much like drunken louts as possible.... probably 'cos we are! smile And, yep, the old voice is a bit croaky this morning!!

Onwards & upwards.... I have faith the lads can keep us up!

Having seen the slow motion of the handball I can now see why the referee gave it as handball.Keirans left hand certainly prevented the ball from going further than it did. Intentional?..probably not & in the sense of the word probably not a penalty but as said I can understand how the referee gave it having viewed it more slowly. My word it was hit hard at him though.

I suppose had it been the way round I too would probably have been shouting for the penalty. Fairs fair & apologies to the Ref on this occasion.Benefit of the doubt to the official.
