Disappointed

Back in October I admired a team that came to Lower road and tried to play football the right way.I even said that they were my favourites to win the league but tonight i have only witnessed a team that looked like an old boxeur hanging on his ropes and trying to waste time at every opportunity.I lost count of how many times a ball was kicked out of play by a Takeley player and time wasted in restarting the game with match balls disappearing and the referee adding 5 minutes on top of normal injury time.A team that is second in the table shouldn't resort to these kind of tactics,especially when they are a good side.Tonight i have seen the ugly side of Takeley.They don't look as brilliant and sharp like at the beginning of the season.They are more direct now,with the balls played to their 2 decent forwards.I'm not here to argue about it but i'm disappointed in seeing a team that impressed for their passing game a few months ago,employing some tactics which my fellow countrymen are famous all over the world.What can we say?Might be the end justifies the means..still it ain't nice to watch...i'm sorry Takeley.

Well,Lloyd Wilson was taken out after 20 minutes 40 yds away from goal and after limping for the rest of the 1st half,we had to take him off...

Manzi broke his ankle tonight..fell awkwardly apparently.

Sometimes you have to play ugly! You can't always play well and you have to grind them out.

I have to say I have seen Takeley twice this season, both times at Aveley.

 

1st occasion they played it all along the floor with some very neat football.

 

On Saturday they looked more basic and some of there players did not look fit. Mind you a couple of their supporters looked very fit indeed!

 

Perhaps as does often happen they have given it all they can in their first year at this level....... don't be too hard on them Coachie.

Mind you I could be wrong but I don't think they are the same players they had when we played them at their place.

The names are the same..Galsworthy,Dorian,Grove,Watters,etc.As Boroman pointed out they went through an entire ESL season and that has taken his toll on them,might be a fitness trainer next year might help..Still,they are second so hats off!!Lightweight is not about playing ugly,it's about employing wasteful tactics that are not needed.

coachie you must have been watching a different game cos if your players could keep the ball on the pitch then we wouldn't have had too take so long getting the ball back. I really hope you choke yourself on those 5 kilos of sour grapes you must have eaten.

ha ha you should ask your son and his partner in defence...i don't know between them two who won the competition " Kick the ball high and out".I agree with Lightweight!!

considering that my son is 13 years old I don't think he would have been playing. I know that don put a few ressies in last night but i think you right back would have won hands down. Anyway you have score goals to win matches and seeing as our keeper spent most of the second half talking to your spectators behind the goal One thinks you weren't very good in that department. so sit down shut up and give the rest of your body some exercise in stead of your gob. it needs it.

seeing as my son is only 13 i dont think that he was playing last night do you. Don's son was the number 5 but come on to win games you must score goals and you never really looked like that whereas we could and should have scored at least 3. i know that we made 6 changes to the line up saturday and still proved too good for you. so quit whingeing.
