Members Meeting Wedensday 25th March 2009

Recommended Posts

Good thing is, this is not a members meeting from what I understand, but a supporters meeting. Its a great and fantastic opportunity for all those very unhappy, moderately unhappy, unhappy, moderately happy, happy and very happy supporters to be their and ask any question whatsoever to the the people that matter. I'm almost certain to be their and will ask things that are on my mind, (if i remember them)

The QE Stadium project is a major undertaking for the club and I am sure everyone will be very interested to hear the latest news and progress.Equally, this meeting provides a great opportunity for everyone to raise other key issues,of concern to them this season, and the future of our club. Does anyone have any specific thoughts and ideas on what issues,on and off the field, they personally believe need to be raised and addressed next Wednesday evening?

Andy, think the issues you raise are spot on. An increase in membership, whilst very welcome, does not generate much additional much needed income, unless everyone regularly attends all home matches and spends money in the ground. The present financial health of the club, particularly in relation to the substantial amount of money which needs to be raised towards the funding of the QE Stadium,is undoubtedly the key issue. Think answers need to be given next Wednesday as to what plans and major fund-raising issues are already in place to generate the required amount. Time is running out and there does not appear to be a great deal of communication on this subject which is critical and of paramount importance to the future of our club in the present recession. Should make for a very interesting evening.

I too can not fault Littlehampton's and Andy's comments in the last couple of postings.

The one main LARGE challenge I would give to the supporters who will attend the supporters meeting on Wednesday is by all means come along ask and say your piece, but are you willing to give up any of your free time to add the extremely needed voluntary hours that a club like ours needs to function.

I think the board would be open to offers and committments.

Very valid point EU.

However, don't think we should forget or overlook the fact that since our club was formed many, many loyal supporters have done, and are still doing, exactly what you suggest, giving up their free time, without counting the cost,to support ETFC and it's ideals.

These are the unsung heroes. They are not high profile directors',or Board members, and most don't want to be.They do what they do for the love of the club and because they want it to be successful and move forward. Some of these people you know, others you don't.

Everyone associated with the club is entitled to expect good communication from it's elected representatives. In turn, they are entitled to expect support and encouragement from members and supporters, providing everyone (or the majority) agrees that they are serving the club's best interests and there is open honest dialogue.

Hopefully,next Wednesday evening,we will see a very constructive,worthwhile meeting.I hope so.

From the Website which I am sure everyone has read, however if not then I for one strongly believe it is a small committment even in these tough economic times.

I have been asked to mention that the supporters' meeting in the Downs on Wednesday is not members-only. All supporters can turn up to this one. However, if you aren't a member of the Supporters' Society, please take the opportunity to join.

On the subject of information from the board, of which I am not a memeber of, is that they cant put out regular weekly reports out as it'll be inpractical, they are holding an open meeting on wednesday which is great and in line with supporters/members needs, plus there will always be boardroom confidentiality on subjects which just cannot be aired until the timing of doing so is right. I fully appreciate that even though some of the board tolerate my badgering of questions at times.
