all things pass...

Hello to you all and a sad day for myself and Unc as we draw a line under our 9 years as caretakers of Hx Football Club.

As most of you know it has been a tough season with money tight all around the club and indeed the leagues in general and it is no secret that we have been talking to several potential sponsors/new Chairmen with a view to bringing much needed sponsorship to the club, we have seen some serious people and we have seen some not so serious people but late last week our current Chairman Grant Beglan asked for a meeting and offered to take over the club ownership in its entirety, at the same time bringing financial stability and continuity to Hx.

After receiving several undertakings from Grant regarding the clubs ownership going forward and the club retaining its name and playing at Bridge Avenue we decided that this was the way forward, bringing continuity and stability to the club that we both love and have spent 9 years looking after. Grant is an honourable man and we feel secure in the knowledge that he will look after the clubs future. 9 years at the helm of a football club takes its toll and we have both felt for a while that our time had come and that new energies and enthusiasm were needed. It was the right thing to do for us and for the club.

Unc will remain as a consultant for the new stadium project which is very much live but other than that we feel that we need a break from the club and footie for a while, I shall be there for a few days this week whilst Grant gets his plans in place and then gracefully retire to the comfort of my armchair on a saturday enjoying the Bitch and Cantos Update Show...!!

We have made a lot of friends during our time at Hx and enjoy relationships with our rivals that are the envy of other clubs, that must be kept up please, it means so much to us both and inside of our club there are so many people to thank for all of the help and support we have received in the past 9 years so I won't mention anyone, you know who you are and I love you all, I shall miss you..

So a brave new dawn for the club and Jim Bradshaw's dreams live on as do ours and yours, I implore you all to get behind the club now and urge Colin and the team onwards towards that play off place, a massive game next saturday and a chance to show Grant that the club is worthy of his support and his investment, we shall be listening for the roar of the crowd from here next week, don't let us down..

And so inevitably we draw an end to our wonderful Urchin adventure and shall never regret a moment of it all, as Unc often says, no one ever really owns the club, they are just passing through and privileged to be able to look after it for a while, we always tried our best and gave everything we could for the club, we shall take our memories with us and shall always be Urchins..

Very best wishes to you both in your retirement, and hope you enjoy the freedom it brings with it.

I would also like to thank you both so much for the friendship and hospitality given to myself and many other Gate fans during the last few seasons. A meaningful friendship between our clubs that I know will continue.

Again enjoy your retirement - A.B.

Can only echo the thoughts of others. From when I started coming to Hornchurch it was absolutely evident how much the club had and did rely on the energy, enthusiasm and lets not be shy about it, finance the two of you brought to the Club.

Whether it was top of the Conference South or that fantastic season in the ESL following the Urchins has been a joy, and the Club has an awful lot to thank you for.

The baton has been passed and now we have to get behind the boys on Saturday.

Thanks
