New Manager Announced

Recommended Posts

Justin Edinburgh broke Ian Nolans leg in a challenge, which resulted in Nolan having to wear specially-made football boots, because his right leg was one centimetre shorter than the other !!

I think this is excellant news, anyone that has played with the likes of Lineker and Gazza has all the respect they need.

Wouldnt be at all surprised if the assistant is steve sedgley, afterall he has managerial experience with Kingstonian. Im sure most of the existing players will want to play for justin.

A young fresh manager should hopefully bring anew fresh start to the club.

Have to admit I don't know an awful lot about Justin apart from what I've read here. he must have played for Spurs at a time I was only interested in non-league soccer, and didnt follow the Big league much. However, the good thing for me is that he appears to be a Ricay boy, living in or at least very near the town, so respect straight off. I for one will be there at the first game with a clean slate giving him my full support and ready to get behind the blues again after a season to forget. Good luck Justin!

I've been busily (ish) doing a spot of research on Justin for a profile for the website, he was born in Brentwood and lives in Billericay. Played for Basildon schools and went to Mayflower School. So very much a local lad!

Apparently he's going to be playing for us as well as managing so I guess there'll be a few crunching tackles flying in!

surely that means we will be playing spurs in a friendly again? maybe they will bring a stronger line up as justin has got many contacts at the club?

Now we have a manager who has been a player at the highest level our games will be more interesting to watch. Now we might see the ball being played around abit more often. Hopefully we will see the big gates arrive that we should be able to pull in.

Maybe afew older pro's who have played with him in the past mixed with afew young lads who have not quite made it at the highest levels. Be a great mix and can not wait to see the start of the next season.

I think with all the positive feelings going around with the new managers appointment, is it not worth saying well done to the chairman? Its got the fans talking about the future, and also im sure no manager especially an unproven one like justin would want to manage a club that was going down the pan. Rod must have sold the club to justin as much as justin wanted the opportunity to get a foot on the management ladder.

The appointment of Justin is a massive plus for BTFC. He is young, ambitious and eager to succeed.

After the JK years of Alcove Two drinking the club dry of funds and desperate times in Divisions Two & One when no-one gave a tuppenny about the supporters and the club, followed by the boredom years of Calder (0-0 is a good result) trying to maintain respectablilty at the expense of supporters tolerance, let's see Justin get stuck in and do his best!

Good luck Justin - we are all behind you (especially the Spurs element of BTFC!!!)...

Why is it that every year at this time we all get enthusiastic about the forthcoming season ? when by the middle of the season we are losing interest, lets hope its different this next season.

I have to say I've been very impressed with what Justin's been saying in the papers etc:

Soccer: Edinburgh springs in to Town action

New Billericay Town boss Justin Edinburgh was soon in action on the first day of his job as manager of the Ryman Premier club.

The former Southend United and Spurs defender had meetings with club chairman Rod Moore and other officials at New Lodge last night to set up pre-season friendlies and start the hunt for players.

"Other clubs have got a head start on us as far as arranging pre-season games are concerned and we must start sorting things out quickly if we are to get some worthwhile friendlies," the new boss said.

Edinburgh goes into the job knowing that there will not be unlimited cash available on the playing side at Billericay.

But he insisted: "We will not be alone on that side of things. In our division perhaps only Canvey, Grays, Hornchurch and Kettering will be operating from a higher financial position. For the rest of us we're all likely to be on something of an even keel.

"Of course cash resources can help, but money alone is no guarantee of success. Whoever would have thought that a relatively small club like Burscough would have won the FA Trophy when the season began.

"Anyway, football overall has changed dramatically on the financial side over the past 12 months.

"There are a lot of top class pros who've come to the end of their contracts who are having to face the fact that they're being offered substantially less than they were before.

"And it also means that a lot of quality players will be dropping out of the league and be looking for places in the non-league game."

Edinburgh reaffirmed his determination to succeed in his first managerial post.

"I've been lucky enough to be a winner at the highest level and that's something I'm determined to continue as a manager. If I don't it won't be for the want of trying," he said.

You obviously don't know who his assistant is going to be or you would have told us who it is going to be. Your just guessing that it is one of his old teammates.

It will take a while for Justin to both adjust to managing a non-league club and gain the faith of those around him. It's my guess that, given his many contacts in football, he will not be short of information on player availablilty both ex-football league and non-league. What should be refreshing is that he will not be influenced by the so-called 'stars' of the non-league circuit but will probably build his squad from players who have no local Ryman league connections or pre-conceived ideas about inflated non-league wages.

One of the best things that supporters at BTFC can do is to get right behind him from the off. That means putting behind us the abject blandness of the Calder years and looking forward to the excitement of new talent who are prepared to bust a gut for the local boy come manager.

Justin was a Spurs man through and through who absolutely hated being second best to the red and white sh*ite from the other side of North London on and off of the pitch. There is no reason not to expect that same kind of passion and desire to come to the fore when he pulls on the blue and white shirt of the 'ricay.

Somehow I think the away days especially are going to be rather good fun next season......
