Yep he was my vote last season for player of the year and performed well in a poor team come the second half of the season.

But this year he has been found wanting along with others (oh look they've gone too) and has been replaced by Marcel who lets face it is by far the best left back we've had to date.

So i'm not slagging anyone off, but Basty chose to leave cos he lost his place in the team to a better player and I hope he thrives on regular first team footy at Malden. Good luck to him.

Another player gone!!

This is becoming a bit of a joke, players now days when not playing just jump ship to another club, now i know players just want to play footbal, i can understand that but whatever happened to the 'fight for your place' and 'earn your shirt'?

It seems in todays football at this level if a player doesn't get into the team for a few weeks they run away to another club rather than stay and fight for there place.

Or perhaps he was fed up with being treated like something on the bottom of the management teams shoe!

Perhaps a run in the team would of got consistency in his game, as for being replaced by a better player we will just have to wait & see if his 100 odd games match that of Bastys.......if he gets anywhere near that milestone of course, as if he is that good im sure a conference club will snap him up sooner or later....No?!

Anyway good luck Dave & thanks for the 110% effort you put in for ETFC!

I agree along the lines with stonecold on this one and a few others that have jumped ship.

I think he along with others were a touch thin skinned when they never got their way on things, i.e player power got rumbled, and afterall doing the rounds of saying goodbye to fans before a match because he was left out the team is an example of trying to gee up the anti in the crowd, not acceptable in my view.

However, again, I wish him every success in fighting for his Malden Town place, just wish he were prepared to do that for the Town after all he got 2 and a half years run in the team.

On a lighter note 110%? its impossible,

What we need is 200% support from the fans in the clubs time of need and when the chips are down but if that too is impossible then 100% will do.

EU clearly you dont know him too well, player power & Dave Bastian do not go together, he is probaly one of the most polite & intelligent players in this & any other league.

As for saying farewell to the fans once he has made his mind up that there is no further future for him at ETFC, I see again as a sign of respect towards the supporters he has played in front of for 2 & half seasons, a muck stirer he is definatly not.

So our player of the year goes east to look for a game. Good luck I say and thanks. Mind you, I won't miss some of his tackles.

What I would like to know is when is this all going to stop? I have read that we need another 6 or 7 players. What's going to happen during the summer break? Will we be looking for even more players who will take an eternity to gell before they are replaced?

How about having some stability. Keep the players we have and work with them. If they improve, then it could be down to the coaching. However, if they don't, then the same can be said.

It's only March yet I feel that this season has been wasted.

I feel its the favouritism shown to the new players over the established team members that has put plenty of noses out of joint (and seen the departure of many)..Lets hope the new players can prove to the fans that they are better than the players they replaced..Both in terms of commitment/performances and league position..The last couple of games have been a lot more promising, but the juries still out for me.

Wasn't there favouritism under Jim. After all there was plenty of moaning on these threads that certain players got picked because of their connections rather than form.

The current management have their favourites. So what get over it. This is to be expected with any managers and I have worked for many. As much as we try we cannot be totally objective.

I have always had my favourites in the side and I hope that I can see some favourites in the current squad. Unfortunately my favourites dont seem to hang around long enough for me to see all sides of their game.

At present my favourite is Dave Walton and I am plugging him for player of the year. So just in case.

Goodbye Dave and thanks for all the fish.

Other than your player of the year I can only echo your comments Steph.

There is no reason why the vast majority of the squad do not remain at ETFC, so long as they have a club who will look after them in the limits which we have and they have a manager who they want to get results for and work under.

Those who have left cannot say they have not been looked after by the club within our limits, the rest is a matter of opinion.
