Nathan Elder's season finished by injury

Recommended Posts

Just saw it on sky sports news..

Both players have gone up to head the ball but Mills has gone in with both his elbows up, which has ended up with the elbows going into Nathans face/Nathan heading the elbows.

Mills hasn't done it on purpose, but he shouldn't have gone in with the elbows up high.

Brentford boss Andy Scott was disappointed about the FA's decision not to take disciplinary action over Pablo Mills' challenge on Nathan Elder.

Bees striker Elder is still in hospital awaiting surgery on the horrific facial injuries he suffered when colliding with Mills during the goalless draw at Rotherham on Saturday.

Scott told the club's official website: "My main concern, apart of course from Nathan's well-being, is to try to obtain clarification of what is, and is not, acceptable when challenging for the ball and to ensure that referees maintain a level of consistency when dealing with such challenges."

He added: "We are currently finding it difficult to find a surgeon who can operate on him. The specialist, having looked at his injuries, said they were comparable to injuries sustained from a massive impact and he looked as if he had been beaten up.

"His cheekbone has been pushed to the back of his mouth and into his jaw. The impact also broke his nose and he will require three plates inserted into his mouth.

"Currently he is unable to eat solids and has to be fed liquids. He is also waiting to determine the extent to which his vision has been impaired."

That makes a lot of things pale into insignificance. It's really disturbng to think of "our" Nathan suffering those injuries. I hope they get the operation organised soon and Nathan makes a full recovery.
