Captain , that is because i am getting on , hehe, as you well know , been along time , started at 16 in Surry Combination League , Finish at 55 playing in Chiswick and District league

for Hanworth Villa. Would have still been playing if doc said not to play again . But had to give up some time.

Had some many good times .Winning leagues , playing for the county, also some good teams on the way. best of all was when i was given a trial at Reading Town , when they played at Elm Park.

that was when Charlie Hurley and Maurice Evans were the Managers, Abit before your time.

take care see you soon.

Butts, great history and brilliant that you played until you were 55, but I am sure you meant a trial at Reading and not Reading Town. - drummer boy will be getting a semi over that!

Dorking 3 CB Hounslow 1

Dorking manager Tony Webb celebrated winning the team of the month award for February from the league by claiming another 3 points at home to a competitive CB Hounslow side on Saturday.

Dorking were able to name the same starting 11 that had despatched four goals past Coulsdon Utd in the game last weekend, and the consistency showed as Dorking produced an entertaining display to run out deserved winners. CB Hounslow played their part, playing nice attractive football and doing their best to attack the Dorking 3 man defence of captain Roy Newman, Paul West and Alex Hill, but Dorking always looked likely winners and never really looked like they would relinquish the 3 points.

Dorking started full of purpose, with the front three of Phil Page, Adam Pero and Adie Butler causing all sorts of problems for the visiting defence, and it was no real surprise when Chicks took the lead, Butler rising to head a free kick into the path of James White who side footed home from 8 yards.

Despite being in control, Dorking let CB Hounslow right back in the game just 4 minutes later, a penalty being awarded by the referee for a late challenge in the area, Dorking keeper Dan Coote going the wrong way as the visitors made it 1-1

Dorking came back and continued to play good football, the next goal proving a little bizarre as the ball was charged down by White in the Dorking half as Hounslow attacked, the ball falling to Page who saw the keeper off his line and running back to cover, Page;s precise shot finding the net from the half way line

It was soon 3-1 when Page shot and hit the post , Butler running in well to knock the rebound into the net

3-1 at the interval, and this is the way it stayed till full time, Hounslow occasionally pressing, but Dorking always in control and Chicks should really have added to their score, A series of good saves and clearances off the line in one attack with 10 minutes to go showing that the visitors perhaps were living a bit of a charmed life when Dorking failed to score despite 4 shots in quick succession, Sub Martin Waldren almost claimed his first goal for the club with the last kick of the game, but the keeper saved well down low to his left

Dorking now face Westfield at home on Tuesday 10 March, Sheerwater away on Saturday 14 March before a big game for the team on Tuesday 17 March when 4th placed Knaphill, level on points with Chicks, visit Meadowbank in a 7
